14th Sunday in Ordinary Time
Thanks for a strong small-group Mass last week! It was fun joining you at the mics again and great to have flute back in the mix! I also wasn't sure how well Find Us Ready would work outside of Advent, but Father seemed to like the themes. Here's the audio.
Our July music & cantor schedule is ready! This has also been posted to our Facebook group, the Music Ministry website, binder in the choir area and folder in the Sacristy. You may want to save/print a copy for your own planning too -- there are a few less-common songs in the mix this month :-).
Starting today, Fr. Jozef, Dcn. Jack and a group of parishioners will be on a two-week pilgrimage to Slovenia & Poland. Since several staff are also on vacation, I'll be unlocking & locking the building on 07/04 & 07/11. We'll have a visiting missionary priest this weekend and Fr. Joshi (from St. John's) next weekend. Let's definitely touch base with them on Mass Parts, etc..
Since Independence Day falls on Saturday (which apparently only happens every 6-7 years), feel free to wear (church-appropriate) red, white & blue attire. Father Jozef also requested a patriotic hymn for Closing -- we'll sing America the Beautiful again, but may look at other options next time.
Finally, there have been some emails and announcements about this, but the Parish Picnic is planned for Sunday, July 19th @ 1 PM. Please consider coming out to celebrate Good Shepherd's 37th birthday! An RSVP and food/activities signup went out earlier this month. I'm involved with the planning, so give me a shout if you'd be interested in helping! There are still lots of slots to be filled :-).
If I don't see you, have a happy, safe 4th of July weekend!
(All Mass Parts, except the Gospel Acclamation, are from Mass of Creation, including the Gloria, Holy, Eucharistic Acclamation 'B' (When We Eat This Bread), Doxology & Lamb of God)
Out: Frank, Ally, Karen
Entrance:
GC3 #622 - Canticle of the Turning (Cooney)
Materials (audio & sheet music)
**Let's plan for 2-3 verses, with a brief interlude after each. If we could include the three-part harmony on the refrain, that would be excellent!**
(Glory to God)
Responsorial Ps (Lisa):
SS #091 - Ps 145 - I Will Lift Up Your Name (Angrisano/Tomaszek)
Materials (audio & sheet music)
**Don't forget that verse three transitions into a key change for the final refrain. That refrain is sung twice, plus a tag at the end.**
Acclamation (Cris):
SS #021 (Mass of a Joyful Heart) (vs 1) (Canedo)
Preparation:
GC3 #727 - Come to Me, O Weary Traveler (Dunstan/Moore)
Materials (audio & sheet music)
**This piece ties in nicely with the Readings. I'd like to sing all of the verses in parts, plus repeat verse one a capella. So please make sure you're comfortable with the harmonies!**
(Mass Parts)
Communion:
SS #151 - Come to the Lord (Angrisano/Tomaszek)
Materials (audio & sheet music)
**Depending on what attendance numbers look like (anyone wanna take bets?), we may need to start with an instrumental to fill time. Then we can sing all three verses, repeating as needed.
One thing to watch out for is the key change on the final refrain -- we don't want to go there until we're actually ready to finish! Otherwise, transitioning back will be a problem.**
Closing:
GC3 #984 - America the Beautiful (Bates)
Materials (audio & sheet music)
**This should be the standard arrangement, so including the harmonies would be great! We'll plan for all of the verses, unless the visiting priest processes out super early.**
