Songs & Updates for Saturday, April 11, 2026

2nd Sunday of Easter / Divine Mercy Sunday

We did it! Thanks so much for making Holy Week a huge success! Good Friday went very smoothly and was perhaps our strongest one yet. For a first run, Vigil also came together really well; there were just some logistics/timing things to clean up for next time. Lots of great comments on the music too!

Here's the audio for Holy Thursday & Good Friday. Stay tuned for Vigil!

The music and cantor schedule for the remainder of April is (mostly) ready to go! A few notes:
  • Throughout the Easter season, a Sprinkling Rite will be done during the Gloria (no separate Sprinkling song). We'll follow the script below.
  • We'll also switch back to Alleluia! Give the Glory for the Acclamation (as it has Easter verses).
  • Throughout the season will be a sung dismissal: Dcn. Jack or Fr. Jozef will sing "Go now in peace, alleluia, alleluia." We respond "Thanks be to God, alleluia, alleluia". We'll need to match whatever pitches they go with.
  • Music for First Communion is still being finalized -- hopefully more on that soon!

Just as a heads up, I'm going to store the three new music stand lights (along with the three we already had) in the choir cabinet. That way, they're all in once place for when need them again.

Would anyone be interested in helping me file music? We have a ton of sheet music out from the past couple of years. Now that Holy Week is behind us, I've love to get that material organized into folders in our drawer. Ginny also suggested putting together packets of commonly-used music for certain celebrations; we could possibly do that at the same time. If interested, we can chat about dates!

Looking ahead, our next big event is First Communion on April 25th. Could we please meet @ 3:30 PM that Saturday? This way, we'll have a bit more time to work through the program. And if you're not able to attend, please let me know for planning purposes. I'll be inviting the other choirs too.

I think that's it. Have a great week!

(All Mass Parts, except the Gospel Acclamation, are from Mass of Remembrance, including the Gloria, Holy, Eucharistic Acclamation 'A' (We Proclaim Your Death), Doxology & Lamb of God)

Out: Karen, Ginny

Entrance:
GC3 #537 - Easter Alleluia (vs 1-3) (Haugen)

**We'll sing the first three verses only (verse 3 matches the readings). If we could include the harmonies, that would be great! After verse 3, we'll go to the final ending/coda.**

Sprinkling/Gloria:
Mass of Remembrance (Haugen)

**Father will follow this script. When it says 'All Sing', we'll sing the second half of the Gloria refrain. After the prayer, we'll sing the entire Gloria, while Father sprinkles the congregation.**

Responsorial Ps (Lisa):
SS #081 - Ps 118 - Let Us Rejoice (Tomaszek)

**We've only done this a few times before; please take a look if it's unfamiliar! If interested, there are separate voice parts in the folder :-).**

Acclamation (Ben):
SS #005 (GC3 #844) - Alleluia! Give the Glory (vs 6 or 7) (Canedo)

Preparation:
GC3 #752 - Jesus, Your Spirit in Us (Taize)

**As a reminder, this has an Ostinato Refrain. We'll sing the refrain twice between each verse. When the verses are sung, the refrain can be a bit softer.

Would anyone be interested in cantoring verses? I usually do this...but I picked up a bug over the weekend and may not be able to sing. A backup would be great :-).**

(Mass Parts)

Communion:
SS #166 - Worthy is the Lamb (Manalo)

**Since this is a bit short, could we start with an instrumental, before adding in the voices? Also, including the descant would be great!**

Closing:
GC3 #610 - Sing of the Lord’s Goodness (Sands)
