Season of Creation: Living Water
25th Sunday in Ordinary Time
Thanks to everyone who came out last week! It was fun blowing the dust off of We Are God's Work of Art -- Fr. Jozef wasn't familiar with this one, but mentioned how much he liked it! Within the Reign of God also came together nicely for a first run. It's a joyful tune and definitely worth adding to our repertoire! We'll do it again in a couple of weeks. Here's the audio.
A quick reminder to please check out the linked 'audio & sheet music' files each week. These files are swapped out pretty often with better ones (especially now that I'm dabbling with a tablet for music!). Any practice tracks and separate parts are being added too. Please don't share these outside of the Ministry, but you're welcome to use them for rehearsal/Mass purposes!
I'm also pulling some possible dates for wiring & cabinet cleanup. Since this ended up getting delayed, I'm aiming for early/mid-October at this point. If you're still interested in helping, stay tuned!
You should have received a couple of Parish emails (including one today), but a Volunteer Appreciation luncheon is planned for Sunday, October 11th, following the 10:30 AM Mass. This is part of a new volunteer recognition effort that the PC has been working on. Please do come out and be recognized! The choir leads were asked to remind their groups that you're all invited :-). Here's the link to RSVP.
Finally, our Fall Potluck has been scheduled for Saturday, November 7th after Mass. Thanks for the quick responses and Bev for organizing! Here's the link to RSVP. Don't forget that family is welcome! This will be our last Potluck for the year, so we'd love to see a big turnout!
I think that's it for now. See you Saturday!
(All Mass Parts, except the Gospel Acclamation, are from Mass of Creation, including the Gloria, Holy, Eucharistic Acclamation 'B' (When We Eat This Bread), Doxology & Lamb of God)
Out: Barry (tentative); Karen (tentative), Ginny
Entrance:
GC3 #852 – All Who Hunger, Gather Gladly (Dunstan)
Materials (audio & sheet music)
**We'll sing all three verses, with a slight pause after each.**
(Glory to God)
Responsorial Ps (Jake):
SS #091 – Ps 145 – I Will Lift Up Your Name (Angrisano/Tomaszek)
Materials (audio & sheet music)
**Don't forget that after verse three, there's a key change with a four-bar transition. Please don't start the Final Refrain too early! The refrain is repeated the last time, before going into a four-bar tag at the end.**
Acclamation (Lisa):
SS #021 (Mass of a Joyful Heart) (vs 1) (Angrisano)
Preparation:
SS #196 (GC3 #651) – Open My Eyes (Manibusan)
Materials (audio & sheet music)
**In taking a closer look, I'd like to make a tweak to lengthen this a bit. It was a little too short last time! The sequence will be something like this:
- Written intro (into 1st ending)
- Verse 1 (into 1st ending)
- Verse 2 (into 2nd ending)
- Bridge
- Verse 3 (into 3rd ending -- but to Bridge, rather than outro)
- Bridge
- Verse 4
- Outro (same as intro, but into final ending instead)
Anyway, I hope that makes sense!**
(Mass Parts)
Communion:
GC3 #913 – We Are One (de Silva)
Materials (audio & sheet music)
**We've only done this a few times. Please make sure you're comfortable with the melody and the syncopated rhythms! For the harmonies, I'd at least like to include the echo at the end of the verse; feel free to look at the rest of the parts too, but we don't have to add them this time around.**
Closing:
GC3 #643 – Healing River (Minkoff/Hellerman)
Materials (audio & sheet music)
**We looked at this again last week. As a reminder, verses 1, 2 & 4 (which is the same as 1) mostly have the same melody. Verse 3 is totally different, though, and has a tricky transition. Let's see if we can nail verse 3 this week! And if everything else is in good shape, we could possibly look at adding the echoes too (men/women split). We'll sing this again in a couple of weeks, so there's still time :-).**
