Baptism of the Lord

Thanks for a solid start to 2026 Masses! I appreciate everyone who came out for Mary, Mother of God on Wednesday and Thursday; it was also fun pulling out some more Christmas and Epiphany classics last Saturday! The audio can be found here and here.
Baptism of the Lord marks the final weekend of the Christmas season. Thanks again for all of your patience and flexibility over the past several months -- there's been much to sort out, but we made it! Next week, we return to Ordinary Time until Lent kicks off in mid-February.
Note a couple of tweaks to this week's program. Father wanted to add a Sprinkling Rite -- this will take place after the Gathering song and before the Gloria. Since our Offertory song, Streams of Living Water, is actually written as a Sprinkling Rite (how's that for coincidence?), it's been moved to that slot. A different song was added for Offertory. The music plan has been updated.
Also, we have an OCIA (formerly RCIA) dismissal this week. Most of these happen on Sundays, but a few have been scheduled for Saturdays. These are always subject to change, though! The full schedule has been added to the group calendar.
Looking ahead, I'm playing with the idea of switching music selection from a monthly to a quarterly cycle. That way, we don't have to worry about doing it as frequently. And materials would be available further in advance :-). I'm not sure how well this would work logistically, but it could be worth trying!
Finally, I'm starting some very preliminary planning for Holy Week. If you by chance know what your availability looks like for Good Friday (April 3rd @ 2 PM) and/or Easter Sunday (April 5th, probably 8:30 AM), let me know! We'll begin working out details in the coming months.
Enjoy the nice(r) weather, and have a great week!
(All Mass Parts, except the Gospel Acclamation, are from Mass of Joy & Peace, including the Gloria, Holy, Eucharistic Acclamation 'B' (When We Eat This Bread), Doxology & Lamb of God)
Out: Barry, Karen
Entrance:
GC3 #903 - Baptized in Water (Saward)
Materials (audio & sheet music)
**Let's sing all three verses, with a slight pause between each.**
Sprinkling Rite:
SS #041 - Streams of Living Water (Consiglio) [NEW]
Materials (audio & sheet music)
**We took a look last week -- please make sure you're comfortable with melody! If interested, the book includes one harmony line, while the separate octavo music has several more :-).
For the Ostinato Refrain, we'll alternate between singing the refrain by itself and layering the verse on top. I'm happy to do the verse, but if someone else wants to try it, you all have first dibs!**
(Glory to God)
Responsorial Ps (Frank):
GC3 #1012 - Ps 29 - Baptism of the Lord / ABC (Guimont) [NEW]
Materials (audio & sheet music)
**From what I'm seeing, Guimont is the only version of Psalm 29 in GC. The book doesn't include the full score, though, so please use the copy in the folder! **
Acclamation (Jake):
SS #021 - Alleluia (vs 1) (Angrisano)
OCIA Dismissal:
SS #211 - Thy Word is a Lamp (Ref x2) (Smith)
Materials (audio & sheet music)
Preparation:
GC3 #610 - Sing of the Lord's Goodness (Sands)
Materials (audio & sheet music)
(Mass Parts)
Communion:
GC3 #939 - Behold the Lamb (Willett)
Materials (audio & sheet music)
**Since this is a bit long, let's try to start as early as possible. Any takers to cantor for a bit? If interested, practice tracks for both the descant (refrain) and harmony (verses) are in the folder.**
Closing:
SS #135 - River of Glory (vs 1-2) (Schutte)
Materials (audio & sheet music)
**Let's plan for at least two verses. Including the harmony on the refrain would be great! Also, don't forget that the last time, we'll go to the final ending (which repeats the last phrase of the refrain).**
