Feast of the Holy Family

Happy Christmas Eve Eve! Since there's already plenty going on, I'm keeping this one short :-).

The post for Christmas Masses has been updated with a few tweaks from yesterday's large-group rehearsal. If you're planning to sing/play tomorrow, please take a look!

A reminder that Masses for Mary, Mother of God (New Year's Eve/Day) will be on Wednesday, December 31st @ 7 PM and Thursday, January 1st @ 10:30 AM. As it stands, Bev is playing for both; Barb P. is cantoring the evening Mass and I have morning. Join us! Music will be available soon.

Besides January music, I'm working on planning docs and updating the group calendar for 2026. That should all available by next week (it's a good holiday break project :-). In the meantime, if you have thoughts on what you'd like to see us do in the new year, let me know. Always open to fresh ideas!

Finally, here's to our last Saturday Mass of 2025! Thanks so much for another awesome year of music-making! If I don't see you, have a blessed New Year!

(All Mass Parts, except the Gospel Acclamation, are from Mass of Joy & Peace, including the Gloria, Holy, Eucharistic Acclamation 'B' (When We Eat This Bread), Doxology & Lamb of God)

Out: Jake, Karen, Frank

Entrance:
GC3 #423 - Awake! Awake and Greet the New Morn (Haugen)

**Let's plan to do 2-3 verses. Also, during verse one, we'll sing "...for now He is born..." (the Christmas text), rather than "...for soon He is born" (Advent text).**

(Glory to God)

Responsorial Ps (Cris):
GC3 #086 - Ps 128 - Blest Are Those Who Love You (Ref I) (Haugen)

Acclamation (Ginny):
SS #021 - Alleluia (vs 1) (Angrisano)

Preparation:
GC3 #454 - The Virgin Mary had a Baby Boy (West Indian)

**Please use the rhythm & style from this recording, rather than what's in the book! There are many variations on this tune; the version in the book just feels too rigid!

Also, there's no accompaniment on the last bar of the refrain (just rests) -- we may want to play some fill there to help with the transition. The final time, though, we can simply end abruptly on the last word (no sustain). I hope that all makes sense!**

(Mass Parts)

Communion:
GC3 #466 - What Child Is This? (Dix)

Closing:
GC3 #424 - Hark! The Herald Angels Sing (Wesley)
