Nicely done last week! We had a great mix of All Souls music, much of which we don't often do as a large group. The four-part harmonies on Come to Me, O Weary Traveler were lovely! Frank's impromptu addition of Morning Has Broken was a great fit, and I think we finally nailed the timing on Lead Us to Your Table! Here's the audio.
Also, thanks to everyone who stuck around for our Halloween/All Souls potluck -- it was our biggest turnout to date (14 people, I believe!). Watch out for a poll about the next one :-).
It looks like I spoke too soon about Time & Talent -- please welcome Claire to the group! I'm also following up with one other person who's interested in joining us on cello and/or piano.
The new Killoren books are now available! We made an announcement about these last week. Both choir & spare congregation copies are in our cabinet. Songs will be marked with 'K' on the boards.
Per Joanne's request, Paul fixed some issues with the piano monitor (the knobs were all out-of-whack!) Paul may also mark the correct positions for each knob, and perhaps put a limiter on the volume (so that it doesn't feed back if turned up too much). Thanks, Paul!
If interested, here's the Music Ministry report that was submitted to the Prayer & Worship Chair for tomorrow's Pastoral Council meeting. Note some important dates for upcoming liturgies! The PC may not meet in December, so this could be our last report for 2025. Thanks Barb P. for compiling this!
Don't forget that we're meeting at 3:30 PM Saturday to start working on Advent & Christmas music! Since the plan is still in flux, let's start with some a capella things (like Masters in this Hall) and review Mass of Joy & Peace. I'd also like to look at a new song for next week, Our God Reigns.
Finally, a quick reminder to please complete the survey for Christmas Masses! So far, I've heard from most of you, plus some of the Sunday folks. Starting next week, we'll work on finalizing the plan.
I think that's it. Have a great week!
(All Mass Parts, except the Gospel Acclamation, are from Mass of Creation, including the Gloria, Holy, Eucharistic Acclamation 'C' (Save Us, Savior), Doxology & Lamb of God)
Out: Karen
Entrance:
GC3 #606 - Glory and Praise to Our God (Schutte)
Materials (audio & sheet music)
**Since verse four connects with the Readings, let's plan to sing all of the verses. Including the harmonies would be great! Practice tracks are in the folder :-).
Also, keep in mind that verse four has a completely different melody from the rest. Please make sure you're comfortable with this!**
(Glory to God)
Responsorial Ps (Frank):
GC3 #1211 - Dedication of the Lateran Basilica (Ps 46) (Guimont)
Materials (audio & sheet music)
**I don't normally program Guimont, but Ps 46 isn't super common! This was the only option in our books. Please take a look at the refrain before the weekend! We'll also need to be careful of the timing & phrasing on the Psalm Tone verses. And I'd suggest taking it a bit faster than the recording :-).**
Acclamation (Jake):
SS #021 - Alleluia (vs 1) (Angrisano)
Preparation:
SS #105 (GC3 #590) - Christ, Be Our Light (Farrell)
Materials (audio & sheet music)
**We'll probably get through 3-4 verses. Including the harmony on the refrain would be great! After each refrain, there will be a slight pause and transition chord before going on to the next verse (different than written). We've done this in the past -- it makes everything flow better!**
(Mass Parts)
Communion:
SS #106 (GC3 #766) - City of God (Schutte)
Materials (audio & sheet music)
**We keep talking about doing this for Communion, so it's time to make it happen :-). Both the SS & GC arrangements should be the same (other than being written out somewhat differently).
Would someone like to get this started, while everyone else goes up to receive? We can always repeat verses as needed. Including the decant would be lovely too!**
Closing:
GC3 #835 - They’ll Know We Are Christians (Scholtes)
Materials (audio & sheet music)
**Could we sing all four verses using the written arrangement? At upbeat tempo, this will go by pretty quickly!**
