20th Sunday in Ordinary Time
Thanks for another strong Mass last week! We had quite a few fun SS tunes, and it was great to have a full melodic instrument section again!
Here's the audio. I have two sets of files this time -- besides the usual recording, there's also a direct capture from the system! Paul recently added audio outputs in the Sacristy, so it was a good opportunity to test them. This seemed to work nicely, although I'll need to tweak the recording level and better mic some things for next time. It's pretty interesting to compare how these sound!
The Choir Leads met with Jim M. last Thursday to revise our budget. We developed our first budget about a year ago, but discovered that we didn't quite do it correctly (oops!). As long as everything meets with the Finance Council's approval, we should be squared away for the new fiscal year.
We also talked about adding monitors to the choir area. This is something Joanne brought up as a possible budget item, as some folks have trouble hearing one another. Long story short, more monitors would cause feedback issues -- we just have too many mics in a tight space! The same goes for turning up the speaker above us. Unless we redesign the space or look at wireless/in-ear options, it's probably a no-go. But we could look at other options if needed. Thanks to Paul, Joe & Jake for the discussion!
If you haven't already, please let me know whether you can help with cabinet and/or wiring cleanup! Some emails went out last weekend (I've only heard from a few people so far). It would be great to take care of these projects before Fall activities spin up again!
We touched on this recently, but Saturday is the Feast of the Assumption. Since it falls on a weekend this year, there won't be any special liturgies. So we'll celebrate weekend Masses as normal.
Finally, a quick reminder that our Summer Potluck is still on for next Saturday, August 22nd. Don't forget to RSVP if you haven't already! There's always plenty of food, so families are welcome too!

**We haven't done this in quite a while! Note that sections of the refrain and all of verse two are in Spanish. However, the English translations are included at the bottom of each page. There's also a copy in the folder with all of the English written out.
I'd recommend singing the English for now. I don't mind attempting the Spanish, but we'd need to make sure it's done confidently. Just keep in mind that the rhythms for both will be slightly different.
Years ago, we also did this combined with Lord, When You Came (which has a similar feel). There's an arrangement in the folder, but we won't play with it this go around. Resurrecting that is probably a project for another day :-).**
