33rd Sunday in Ordinary Time
Thanks for a very strong Mass last week! It was fun pulling out some classics, and the Guimont psalm was an nice change in pace (we may do more of these occasionally to break things up a bit). I also appreciate everyone who came early to kick off Advent/Christmas prep! Here's the audio.
A general reminder that if you're not able to receive Communion during Mass, please see Fr. Jozef afterward. He'd be glad to take care of you! A few of us ran into this last week.
Since we just had our first snow of the season, this is your annual Winter weather notice :-). If there's a storm, please keep an eye on your email, text & Facebook for updates! We had to cancel activities at least twice last Winter. Obviously, I don't want to do that, but safety comes first!
Don't forget that Good Shepherd's Fall Festival is this Saturday from 9 AM - 2 PM. There will be over 30 craft vendors, plus raffle baskets, a bake sale and food trucks. Thanks to Ginny for organizing!
Since we have several folks out, there will not be 3:30 PM rehearsal this week. We'll meet at 4 PM as usual. For the following week (November 22nd), let's plan to meet early. That'll give us time to go over Mass of Joy & Peace and other special music for Advent (which begins on the 29th).
Mass for Thanksgiving Eve will be on Wednesday, November 26th @ 6 PM (note time change!). The music will be added to our November plan in the next few days. Please join Bev & I if you're able!
A heads up that I'll be out on Saturday, December 6th for the SCCS Christmas concert. We'll need to nail down a plan before then.
We've been asked to sing for the Faith Formation Christmas Pageant again this year. It's on Saturday, December 20th (probably 2:00 PM). There's typically a rehearsal with the kids the week before (TBD). We'll need at least piano and 3-4 singers, but the more, the merrier! Please let me know if you can help!
Finally, thanks to everyone who responded to the Christmas Mass poll! We heard from 26 people across all three groups. I'm working with Joanne & Barb P. now on a coverage plan -- more to come soon!
I think that's it. Stay warm, and see you Saturday!
(All Mass Parts, except the Gospel Acclamation, are from Mass of Creation, including the Gloria, Holy, Eucharistic Acclamation 'C' (Save Us, Savior), Doxology & Lamb of God)
Out: Karen, Ginny, Jake
Entrance:
GC3 #864 - The Trumpet in the Morning (vs 1-3) (Cooney)
Materials (audio & sheet music)
**We've only done this a few times before, so please make sure you're familiar with the melody! If anyone would like to take a shot at the descant, that would be great too!**
(Glory to God)
Responsorial Ps (Lisa Cris):
GC3 #070 - Ps 98 - All the Ends of the Earth (Ref III) (Haugen)
Materials (audio & sheet music)
**A heads up that Lisa is joining us for Mass, but won't be able to make rehearsal. I'll cover the Psalm for her (unless anyone else wants it?). We'll sing Refrain III ("The Lord comes to the Earth...").**
Acclamation (Ben):
SS #021 - Alleluia (vs 1) (Angrisano)
Preparation:
SS #197 - Our God Reigns (Smith)
Materials (audio & sheet music)
**We started taking a look at this last week -- please review if unfamiliar! We'll probably get through 2-3 verses. Let's plan to only sing the refrain once between verses (no repeat); if we could include the harmonies too, that would be nice!**
(Mass Parts)
Communion:
GC3 #941 - Eat This Bread (Taize)
Materials (audio & sheet music)
**Would someone like to get this one started? Like last time, we could either have cantor(s) on the verses, or sing them all together. Either way is fine! Adding the four-part harmony would be lovely!**
Closing:
SS #121 - In the Day of the Lord (vs 1-3) (Ridge)
Materials (audio & sheet music)
