Songs & Updates for Saturday, August 16, 2025

20th Sunday in Ordinary Time

Thanks to everyone who came out last week! There was some nice harmonies on songs like Rain Down and Where Your Treasure Is. Also, special thanks to Maureen for cantoring for the first time during Communion! Here's the audio.

A quick reminder that Masses for Assumption are this Thursday (August 14th) @ 7 PM & Friday (August 15th) @ 9 AM. On Thursday, we'll meet for a brief rehearsal @ 6:15 PM. Here's the music.

Discussions continue on replacing our Spirit & Song books. Father Jozef would like to move forward this year if possible. Given the Ministry just established a modest budget (and new books would be a significant expense), he would see if any generous parishioner(s) are willing to cover the cost.

Our biggest concern is favorite tunes that didn't make it into the new book. If you have creative ideas on how we can continue using these, I'm all ears! We can hold onto copies of old SS for Choir use, but that doesn't help the congregation. And printing our own booklets with these songs (an idea floated last week) could get us into copyright troubles. There may be no good answers, but just figured I'd ask!

In other news, blinds have been installed on the remaining three windows in the Sanctuary. They're of similar design to the ones in the Choir area. It looks like the new blinds will work well for blocking glare from the opposite side of the room.

Finally, a huge congrats to our former, long-time guitarist Jim! He recently retired from the University after 39 years of service. If you haven't already seen it, this great article was published last week.

That's all for now. Have a great week!

(All Mass Parts, except the Gospel Acclamation, are from Mass of Creation, including the Gloria, Holy, Eucharistic Acclamation 'C' (Save Us, Savior), Doxology & Lamb of God)

Out: Karen, Lisa (tentative), Ben, Maureen

Entrance:
GC3 #778 - Anthem (vs 1-2) (Conry)
Materials (**links removed**))

**Let's plan for two verses only. If we could include the descant on the refrain, that would be great!**

(Glory to God)

Responsorial Ps (Frank):
GC3 #049 - Ps 40 - Here I Am (Cooney)
Materials (**links removed**))

**If interested, there's some great four-part harmony on this one. Practice tracks are in the folder :-).**

Acclamation (Jake):
SS #005 (GC3 #844) - Alleluia! Give the Glory (vs 1, 2, 3 or 4) (Canedo)

**A reminder that verses 1 & 2 are now fair game when cantoring. Sticking with 3 or 4 is fine too!**

Preparation:
SS #180 - Here I Am (Booth)
Materials (**links removed**))

**The arrangement in SS is melody only; if interested, there's also a three-part version in the folder. Also, please make sure you're comfortable with the rhythms -- all three verses have different melodies! Given the length, we'll probably only get through two verses, though.**

(Mass Parts)

Communion:
SS #105 (GC3 #590) - Christ, Be Our Light (Farrell)
Materials (**links removed**))

**If someone would like to get this one started, let me know! Including the descant on the refrain would be great as well.**

Closing:
GC3 #689 - Though the Mountains May Fall (Schutte)
Materials (**links removed**))

**Let's plan to sing all four verses. This is another one with some descants to include if we can!**
