Thanks for another strong Mass last week! The harmonies sounded great (especially Servant Song, but everything else too :-), and it was nice seeing many Arts Fest guests in attendance. Here's the audio.
I've been playing with reorganizing our Google Drive files a bit. Moving forward, you'll start to see subfolders under each song for things like sample recordings, sheet music, c-int. music & practice tracks. That'll hopefully make it easier to see what's what! Let me know if you have any questions.
Bev had something unexpected come up and isn't able to join us this week. Please welcome back Victoria on piano! The two of us are meeting tonight to go through the music, and we'll go from there.
Someone in the congregation commented last week that they thought piano was too loud (in relation to the singers). Balance issues haven't come up in quite a while -- we're probably fine, but a quick sound check during rehearsal couldn't hurt! Let's take a few minutes to do that.
Looking ahead, Masses for Assumption will be celebrated on Thursday, August 14th @ 7 PM (Vigil) & Friday, August 15th @ 9 AM. Bev is playing both Masses. I'm cantoring Thursday & Barb P. has Friday. Would anyone be willing to serve as a backup cantor for Thursday (in case I have to travel)? Music will be included as part of the August plan.
Finally, we'll celebrate the Season of Creation from September 1st - October 5th. The Social Justice Committee has again requested that we program creation-themed music those weeks. Check out the Season of Creation website for info on this year's themes.
That's all for now. See you Saturday!
(All Mass Parts, except the Gospel Acclamation, are from Mass of Creation, including the Gloria, Holy, Eucharistic Acclamation 'C' (Save Us, Savior), Doxology & Lamb of God)
Out: Karen, Frank (tentative), Bev, Lisa, Joe
Entrance:
SS #163 - Table of Plenty (vs 1-2) (Schutte)
Materials (**links removed**))
**Let's plan to sing two verses. Also, if we could include the descant, that would be lovely!**
(Glory to God)
Responsorial Ps (Jake):
GC3 #028 - Ps 15 - They Who Do Justice
Materials (**links removed**))
**We haven't done this one in a long time. On the refrain, note that the top line is melody; the lower two lines are harmonies (anyone interested?). Also keep in mind that the end of each refrain overlaps the beginning of each verse. Check out the recordings for how this flows!**
Acclamation (Frank TBD):
SS #005 (GC3 #844) - Alleluia! Give the Glory (vs 3 or 4) (Canedo)
Preparation:
SS #145 (GC3#753) - We Will Serve the Lord (Cooney)
Materials (**links removed**))
**We'll follow the written arrangement. Ideally, I'd like to get through all four verses. Verses 1 & 2 are sung back to back (with a brief interlude), while we go to the refrain after verses 3 & 4.**
(Mass Parts)
Communion:
SS #149 - As One Unknown (Consiglio)
Materials (**links removed**))
**Would someone like to get the singing started while everyone else goes up to receive? Including the harmony on the refrain would nice!**
Closing:
GC3 #592 - We Are the Light of the World (vs 1-4) (Grief)
Materials (**links removed**))
