6th Sunday of Easter

Thanks to everyone who came out last week! Our visiting priest, Fr. Nathan, was very easy to work with -- other than some minor issues with Mass Parts, everything flowed quite well! It was also fun pulling out some traditional Easter tunes for a change. And welcome Tony on percussion! Here's the audio.
Our music & cantor schedule for June will be ready in the next week (note that I'm including May 31st as part of the June plan; that'll keep us in line with the Sunday folks). A few notes:
- Feast of the Ascension - Wednesday, May 28th @ 7 PM & Thursday, May 29th @ 9 AM. An email with details will go out shortly.
- KofC Exemplification - Saturday, May 31st after Mass; I'm checking into whether any special music will be needed during Mass. Stay tuned!
- Pentecost Sunday - Saturday, June 7th - please wear red if possible! We'll have plenty of Pentecost-specific music on the program :-). This marks the official end of the Easter season.
- Quarterly Potluck - Saturday, June 14th after Mass. Here's the signup!
- Bev Out - Saturday, June 28th - we'll have a guest pianist that week.
(this info is on our group calendar too :-).
After more discussions about book stands, it sounds like we're not moving forward with these. There were concerns about limited space in the choir area and sightlines to the Altar. Again, this doesn't have a huge impact on us either way (regular stands aren't going anywhere!), but just wanted to update!
Barb P. brought up a great question about playing audio from computers or smartphones through the sound system (for occasions where recorded music is needed). Right now, the system primarily supports CDs & cassettes. Paul is looking into adding inputs for other devices, as well as outputs for recording (yay!). More on this later; stay tuned!
UPDATE: 05/24: Bev isn't feeling well, so Frank (and possibly Virginia) will be accompanying us tonight. I may meet with them early to review music, but rehearsal will still be at 4:00.
That's all for now. If I don't see you, have a great Memorial Day weekend!
(All Mass Parts, except the Gospel Acclamation, are from Mass of Remembrance, including the Gloria, Holy, Eucharistic Acclamation 'A' (We Proclaim Your Death), Doxology & Lamb of God)
Out: Karen, Maureen (sick), Bev (sick)
Entrance:
GC3 #534 - Now the Green Blade Rises (Crum)
Materials (**links removed**))
**This is the same traditional tune as 'Sing We Now of Christmas'. It's a melody-only arrangement, though, so no parts, unfortunately. We'll plan to do all four verses at an upbeat tempo.**
(Sprinkling & Glory to God)
Responsorial Ps (Jake):
SS #069 - Ps 66 - Let All the Earth (Angrisano/Tomaszek)
Materials (**links removed**))
Acclamation (Frank):
SS #005 (GC3 #844) - Alleluia! Give the Glory (vs 7) (Canedo)
Preparation:
GC3 #524 - Alleluia No. 1 (Fishel) [NEW]
Materials (**links removed**))
**If you weren't here last week, please take a look before Saturday! If possible, I'd like to include the descant on the refrain, and parts on the verses (practice tracks are in the folder). At a good tempo, we may get through most (or all) five verses.**
(Mass Parts)
Communion:
SS #151 - Come to the Lord (Angrisano/Tomaszek)
Materials (**links removed**))
**Let's be careful with timing on this one! There's a key change for the final refrain -- we'll avoid doing this until we're actually ready to end the song. In the interim, we'll repeat verses as needed.**
Closing:
GC3 #984 - America the Beautiful (Bates)
Materials (**links removed**))
**All the three groups are doing this for Closing. We'll plan to sing all four verses. Parts would be lovely (this should be the standard arrangement).**
