2nd Sunday of Lent

Thanks for a strong start to the Lent season! The music came together quite nicely, and I appreciate everyone who was able to be there! Mercy, O God was definitely one of my favorites! Here's the audio.
A small sound system update -- Paul swapped out the stand/holder for our piano mic. The new stand is shorter/less likely to get knocked over (when the piano is moved); it also allows the mic to be pointed straight at the soundboard (rather than at an angle). It should be a better fit for our needs. Thanks, Paul!
For rehearsals, let's plan to continue meeting at 3:30 for now. We may also cover some special music during regular rehearsal (as time permits). We should definitely consider other dates/times, though! Meeting at 3:30 is convenient, but it seems to be a problematic timeslot.
If you haven't already, please let Bev know which date(s) work for our Spring Potluck. It looks like we're down to a few possibilities!
Music for Good Friday (04/18 @ 2 PM) has been drafted. There are a capella pieces, so please start taking a look! Working on this program will be our next priority. Barb P. will be giving us a hand; we may have others from the Sunday groups joining us too.
I'm also discussing Easter Sunday (04/20) with Barb P. & Joanne. For the last two years, we covered the 8:30 Mass; this year, Barb is bringing back organ at 8:30, so we're debating coverage for the 10:30 Mass. Stay tuned! Depending on how this plays out, I may ask for your thoughts on our options.
Amy & I are starting to talk about music for First Communion (04/26 @ 5 PM). Since it'll also be the 2nd Sunday of Easter and the beginning of the Parish Mission, we may tweak some things from last year. Bev is out that weekend, so Victoria will be playing. An invite will go out to everyone soon.
Finally, music planning for the Parish Mission (April 26-30) is on hold -- we're clarifying some things about the evening sessions. As it stands, we're still on to play that Wednesday (April 30th). We'll likely have a guest pianist that night too. I'll let you know when we have more info!
UPDATE: 03/13: Since the existing copies are getting pretty worn, the Office purchased 15 new Mass of Remembrance booklets. Barb H. asked that we treat these gently (like library books) to prevent excessive wear-and-tear (the same goes for the rest of our books :-). Some of the better, original copies will be in the back rows or in the cabinet (please borrow these for rehearsing at home). Thanks!
I think that's it. Enjoy the lovely weather, and have a great week!
(All Mass Parts, except the Lenten Gospel Acclamation, are from Mass of Remembrance, including Holy, Eucharistic Acclamation 'A' (We Proclaim Your Death), Doxology & Lamb of God)
Out: Maureen, Ben
Entrance:
GC3 #478 - Return to God (Haugen)
Materials (**links removed**))
**Let's plan to follow the written arrangement (including the repeat on the refrain) and sing all three verses. Don't forget that verse 3 has a completely different melody. Harmonies would be lovely!**
Penitential Rite (Ben TBD):
Mass of Remembrance (Haugen)
Mass of Remembrance (Haugen)
Responsorial Ps (Ginny):
SS #061 - Ps 27 - The Lord is My Light (Walker)
Materials (**links removed**))
**A reminder that this particular Psalm begins with the verse, rather than the refrain. Because of that, we'll only sing the refrain once the first time (no repeat).**
Acclamation (Cris):
SS #006 - Praise and Honor (‘2nd ABC’ verse) (Canedo)
Preparation:
GC3 #491 - Jesus, the Lord (O'Connor)
Materials (**links removed**))
**Please be careful about tempo -- it definitely shouldn't be rushed! Also, the melody on verse 1 is different than 2 & 3 (although we probably won't get to verse 3). I'll also cue the fermatas at the end of each verse, so please watch for that.**
(Mass Parts)
**For the Lamb of God, we'll sing the Alternate Tropes. But as discussed last week, we'll return to "Lamb of God..." the last time. Watch for a cue at the end of the next-to-last repeat!**
Communion:
GC3 #961 - Remember Your Love (Balhoff)
Materials (**links removed**))
**We may want to either have someone start this, or do an instrumental. Keep in mind that the refrain is slightly slower than the verses (some of which have slightly different melodies). Including the descant would be great! We'll end this with an a capella refrain.**
Closing:
SS #100 (GC3 #569) - At the Name of Jesus (Walker)
Materials (**links removed**))
