2nd Sunday in Ordinary Time

Thanks for a solid Mass last week! We had a few slightly more-involved pieces, plus a late-addition Sprinkling Rite, so I appreciate your flexibility. And welcome again to Karen! Here's the audio.

Welcome to Ordinary Time! We're back to 'normal' Masses until the end of February. We'll also continue singing Mass of Joy & Peace until then. When Lent kicks off on March 5th (Ash Wednesday), we'll likely switch to Mass of Remembrance for the season. Stay tuned!

Last week, we had a couple of people report issues with hearing the singers. We haven't run into balance problems in a good while -- let's do some checking during rehearsal to see if we can fix this. On a similar note, Joe & I are looking at mic'ing Karen so that flute doesn't get buried in the mix.

Our group calendar has been fully updated through the end of 2025. I'll add any other special events as we go. The Feasts, Celebrations & Holidays doc has been updated with some tweaks & corrections too. Hopefully these will help with your 2025 planning!

If interested, here's the Music Ministry report that Barb P. compiled for last week's Pastoral Council meeting. It goes without saying that December was a super busy month, so there was more to report on than usual. Thanks again for sharing so much of your time & talents during the Christmas season!

The Office was in touch about our spare stands & mics stored in the Agape Hall closet. I'm going to take a look Saturday to see if some (or all) of this equipment can be kept in the Choir area instead. Tables & chairs are frequently moved in & out of the closet for events, so there's concern that the gear will be damaged. If there's anything left, Jim M. will see about finding storage space elsewhere.

Finally, a reminder that our Quarterly Potluck is on the board for February 1st after Mass. There's still plenty of space if you haven't signed up already :-).

Be well, and have a great week!

(All Mass Parts, except the Gospel Acclamation, are from Mass of Joy & Peace, including Holy, Eucharistic Acclamation 'B' (When We Eat This Bread), Doxology & Lamb of God)

Out: Karen, Joe

Entrance:
SS #134 (GC3 #582) - Rain Down (Cortez)

**Since this is a bit long, let's plan to sing the first two verses only. Including the two lower harmonies on the refrain would be great!**

(Glory to God)

Responsorial Ps (Cris):
GC3 #067 - Ps 96 - Proclaim to All the Nations (Ref I) (Haugen)

Acclamation (Ben):
SS #005 (GC3 #844) - Alleluia! Give the Glory (vs 3 or 4) (Canedo)

Preparation:
GC3 #834 - We Are Many Parts (Haugen)

(Mass Parts)

Communion:
GC3 #913 - We Are One (de Silva) [NEW]

**This is a new piece, so please take a look before Saturday! We went through melody last week. I'm most concerned with melody; but if you're feeling confident, feel free to look at parts too.**

Closing:
SS #106 (GC3 #766) - City of God (Schutte)

**This one's a bit long, so we'll likely only sing 2-3 verses. Including the descant on the refrain would be nice. Please also make sure you're familiar with how this flows!**
