Thanks for a great large-group Mass last week! We had a nice mix of music, and everything come together pretty well. Here's the audio

Our February music and cantor schedule is ready! A few quick notes:
  • I've started adding links for new/less-familiar songs directly in the music plan. That way, you can look ahead without waiting for these weekly posts :-).
  • Next week's Psalm, Lord, Your Love is Everlasting (SS #088), is new. The second verse is in Spanish; we may look at either translating it into English, or just skipping over it (which is what some recordings do). Either way, we'll tweak the arrangement to make it all work.
  • I'm likely out on Feb. 22nd for an SCCS concert. I know this has caused issues in the past, so we may want to review the plan before then. Perhaps we could come a bit early or stick around after Mass on Feb. 15h?
Joe & I worked on getting an instrumentalist mic wired in last week (one of the spares from the Agape closet). We'll probably run a dedicated cable that will be left in place, but set up/put away the mic itself each week (space is getting a bit tight!). We'll adjust the levels for this in the coming weeks.

Joe also brought in a couple of small, folding tables for books/music (thanks, Joe!). There's a larger one underneath the work table as well that the Sunday folks use. Feel free to use these if it's helpful!

UPDATE: 01/30 - Fr. Jozef will be blessing throats in honor of the Feast of St. Blaise (Feb. 3rd) at the end of all Masses. We should be prepared to 'extend' the Closing song if needed.

Don't forget that our Quarterly Potluck is this Saturday after Mass. Thanks to Bev for organizing! We can use the Kitchenette as a staging area and eat in the Warehouse. Please come before 4:00 if you have anything to set up/prep. That way, we don't lose rehearsal time. There's still plenty of slots if anyone hasn't signed up yet :-). Family, spouses/significant others & friends welcome too!

Looking ahead, Lent kicks off in a little over a month. I'm hoping to put the March music plan out early so that we can get a jump start on prep. We also need to look at special music for Holy Week. The dates are on the calendar, but we normally play for Good Friday (04/18 @ 2 PM) & Easter Sunday (04/20 - AM). Please let me know if you're not able to join us for those. More to come.

Have a great week, and see you Saturday!

(All Mass Parts, except the Gospel Acclamation, are from Mass of Joy & Peace, including Holy, Eucharistic Acclamation 'B' (When We Eat This Bread), Doxology & Lamb of God)

Out: Ben, Ginny, Joe (tentative)

Entrance:
GC3 #604 - All the Ends of the Earth (Dufford)
Materials (**links removed**))

(Glory to God)

Responsorial Ps (Lisa):
GC3 #037 - Ps 24 - We Long to See Your Face (Ref II) (Keil)
Materials (**links removed**))

**This Psalm doesn't come up too often, so please take a look if unfamiliar. Including the harmony on the refrain would be nice!**

Acclamation (Jake):
SS #005 (GC3 #844) - Alleluia! Give the Glory (vs 3 or 4) (Canedo)

Preparation:
GC3 #746 - All That is Hidden (Farrell)
Materials (**links removed**))

**Probably 2-3 verses. Adding the alto and/or tenor parts would be lovely.**

(Mass Parts)

Communion:
GC3 #913 - We Are One (de Silva)
Materials (**links removed**))

**We introduced this piece a couple of weeks ago. Please take a look if it's unfamiliar! Once everyone's feeling comfortable with melody, we can look at adding parts.**

Closing:
SS #205 (GC3 #591) - This Little Light of Mine (Spiritual)
Materials (**links removed**))

**If interested, the GC arrangement has four-part harmony. Unfortunately, they use a slightly different melody, so it doesn't quite match what's in SS. These could be good inspiration for some improv harmonies, though :-)**
