4th Sunday of Lent
"I am the vine; you are the branches." - John 15:5

Thanks to all who came out for the CDA Mass last week! The program came together pretty fast and there was a lot going on that night, so I appreciate your patience! We received quite a few positive comments on the music, both from parishioners and visitors alike. Nicely done! Here's the audio.
Please welcome back Virginia on piano! Virginia is covering for Bev this week.
A reminder that we'll meet at 3:30 PM to look at Holy Week music. There was a suggestion recently to start these rehearsals at 3:30 rather than 3:00 -- let's give this a try and see how well it works!
For Return to God, let's stick with the written arrangement (last time, we tried cutting out the repeat on the refrain, which caused issues). Also, please make sure you know how verse three flows :-).
This week's Psalm, Be With Me, follows a slightly different format than usual. The refrain is in cantor/response format. In other words, the cantor sings the upper line, with everyone else on the lower line. This will be done every time we sing the refrain. Check out the recording below.
For Merciful God, we'll sing the 'Lent Gathering' refrain. Ideally, on the verses, at least two people will be needed on the upper (melody) line and two on the lower (alto/baritone) line.
Would someone like to get the singing started on I Am the Bread of Life? Also, if we could all join in the singing at the same time (the beginning of a refrain or verse), that'll make entrances cleaner.
For Shine, Jesus, Shine, we'll do all of the verses. Father Jozef is a fan of this one and will (probably) wait for us to get through most of it before processing out. Don't forget that we'll take the verses slightly slower than the refrain (since they're wordy) and end with an a capella refrain.
Looking ahead, Holy Week is only four weeks out! Please take some time to look at parts for Good Friday & Easter Sunday music. Here are a few to focus on (I should have hard copies & binders available starting this week). If you need any other materials, let me know!
Also, we should look at arrangements/logistics for:
And if you're interested in singing/playing for Holy Thursday or Vigil, the tentative music is up on the 10:30 page. An invite from the Sunday folks will go out once everything's been finalized.
I think that's it! Have a great week!
