1st Sunday of Lent
"I am the vine; you are the branches." - John 15:5

Thanks for a great Lent rehearsal & Mass last week! We made some nice headway with Lent music and ended Ordinary Time on a high note. Special thanks to Bev & Frank for leading the prayer & warmups! Check out the audio here.

Welcome to Lent! Masses for Ash Wednesday will be held on 02/14 at 8:30 AM & 7 PM (see the 10:30 page for music), with Distribution of Ashes only at noon. Please come sing/play!

A reminder that our next Lent rehearsal is this Saturday at 3 PM. We'll review Mass of Remembrance, Hold Us in Your Mercy, Mercy, O God, Praise and Honor and other music for the season. Let me know if you're not able to attend.

Last week, Joanne got some help from the congregation collecting all of the Joy & Peace cards; her group also swapped out the booklets in the choir area with Mass of Remembrance. This is probably what we'll do for Mass Setting changes in the future.

For Return to God, we'll follow the repeat on the refrain the first time only; after that, we'll go directly to the second ending. Please take a look at parts and make sure you know how verse three flows.

As discussed last week, the verses for Praise and Honor are different each Sunday. We've looked at the first two verses already and will work on the other three as we get closer. I'm also checking into ordering parts, but it appears these aren't available at the moment.

Hosea will likely be short for Offertory, so we can repeat verses and/or add instrumentals as needed. Please make sure you're familiar with how the verses flow.

Our soprano/tenor split on Mercy, O God is sounding great! Let's just be careful of those triplets :-). Since there's plenty of verses, we may want to start this early and see how far we get.

Looking ahead, Bev is out on 03/09, so we're looking into piano coverage. As always, we can tweak the program if needed.

Finally, the Lent/Easter schedule has been confirmed! If you haven't already, let me know your availability for Good Friday & Easter Sunday (that'll really help with planning). Barb P. and I still need to discuss details, but we may join forces on these two liturgies. Our course, please consider singing/playing for the other Holy Week liturgies as well (tentative programs are on the 10:30 page)!

I think that's it. Looking forward to a great Lent season and see you Saturday!
