2nd Sunday of Advent

Thanks to all who came out last week! If was the first time we've been fully-staffed in a while, so that was great to see! I also appreciate the help with putting out the Mass of Joy & Peace cards and the suggestions on how to handle Prepare! Prepare!. Here's the audio (sorry for the clipping).
A reminder that Mass for Immaculate Conception is this Thursday, 12/07 @ 7 PM (Vigil) & Friday, 12/08 @ 9 AM. Please join in the singing! The music can be found here and here.
I'm out this Saturday, so Bev's in charge. There's no Christmas rehearsal (unless you'd like to meet on your own -- up to you!). Paul will also be joining on guitar & Luca flute.
Lisa raised a good point about including the candle-lighting song on the hymn board. We ended up adding this to the same row as the Psalm; another possibility is to remove the 'HYMNS' header to free up a row. Either works! Just make sure numbers are added to both boards :-).
Father confirmed that a cantor will sing the presider parts on the Penitential Rite. This will be sung after the candle-lighting (Father will say something like "...let us pause for a moment to acknowledge our sins and our Lord's mercy and peace...").
Speaking of the candle-lighting, we only needed to sing the refrain on Wait for the Lord twice last week. Father will look over when it's time. Feel free to play things by ear and repeat as needed, though. Given how little time this takes, we won't worry about adding verse for now.
Don't forget that the verses on Now in This Banquet are (mostly) all different. Please make sure you're comfortable with the melodies on each. The Advent refrain will be used for this.
Looking ahead, our special celebration for Our Lady of Guadalupe will be on Tuesday, 12/12 beginning at 4:30 PM (Mass at 5:30). This will feature a professional mariachi band (both before & during Mass); the Mass will be celebrated in both English & Spanish, with Mexican food to follow. This event is open to all and is already being promoted by the Diocese & local news. Please do check it out!
Also, the Christmas Pageant is next Saturday, 11/16, @ 3 PM. As it stands, Bev, Joe, Lisa, Ginny, Jake & I are planning to be there. Some more details went out by email, but rehearsal will be this Sunday, 12/10, from about 10:00-10:25 AM (could we meet around 9:30?). The kids will practice their scenes and we can add in the music. Thanks to all for helping with this!
Finally, copies of Christmas Mass music will also go out by email. More to come on final rehearsals, but please make sure you know the parts. We'll split these soprano/alto/tenor (Lisa & Jake -- you have first pick; I'll try to cover whatever's left :-). If others join later, we can tweak as needed.
I think that's it. See you next week!
