Songs & Updates for Saturday, July 1, 2023 [updated]

13th Sunday in Ordinary Time

Thanks for another great small-group Mass last week! All That is Hidden was a perfect fit for the readings, and the two-part splits on Joy & Peace sounded nice. A number of folks also commented on how they enjoyed the music. Here's the audio Materials (**link removed**)

Our music and cantor schedule for July is ready to go. Let me know if you see any issues. There are a number of newer/less-familiar pieces programmed, but we can always make tweaks if needed.

Hymn board update! This has been assembled, but isn't ready for use yet (the Office needs to track down numbers for it & sort out placement). No changes to announcements for now.

UPDATE: 06/30: We now have numbers for the hymn board, but still need letters to designate GC vs SS (hand-written for now), and song type (Gathering, Psalm, etc..). Also, a parishioner has offered to scratch-build a second board of the same/similar design. Announcements will be the same for now.

Some of you may have noticed the new plaque mounted to the left of the choir windows. Over half the cost of the new blinds was covered by a memorial contribution. This was made in memory of a parishioner's son, who sadly passed away recently. Barb P. worked with the parishioner on the design.

We had some feedback problems with the ambo mic last week. I ended up turning down that mic (and adjusting the choir master), which seemed to resolve the issue. We'll keep monitoring, though.

I'm also looking into new floor cable covers for the wiring between the piano/guitar stand & choir seating. We talked about this during wiring cleanup last month -- the existing covers aren't long enough to protect all of the exposed cables. More to come!

On Saturday, it appears there's a wedding scheduled for 2 PM in the Sanctuary. Normally, this isn't a problem for us, but just a heads up in case there's more activity than usual in/around the building.

In the past, we've avoided patriotic music during Mass. Fr. Jozef seems more open to this, so America the Beautiful is on for Closing (the same goes for Sun 10:30 AM). This way, we don't have to worry about a Postlude, or singing two back-to-back Closing songs (as was suggested over Memorial Day).

Finally, I just wanted to wish you all a happy, safe 4th of July weekend! And if anyone else isn't able to be at Mass, please do let me know so we can plan :-).
