Thanks for a solid piano & strings Mass last week! The splits on Gather Your People, You Will Show Me the Path of Life & On the Journey to Emmaus all sounded great! I also had several people comment on how much they enjoyed the music. Nicely done! Here's the audio (**link removed**).
For Easter Alleluia, I'd like to try a faster, more upbeat tempo, and also make this much more guitar-focused (see the recording). We'll also split the verses for Entrance & Closing.
Don't forget about the tricky transition into verse four on Shepherd Me, O God. This verse also has an additional harmony in GC if anyone's interested.
Let's also be careful about not rushing the tempo on Shepherd of My Heart. The recording below is just about perfect. We may only get through two verses, though, due to length. Harmony would be great!
Please take a look at parts for With a Shepherd's Care. This piece really works best in four parts (especially with the staggered entrances on the refrain). If we can't cover these, I'd suggest sticking with just melody. We'll probably spend some extra time on this.
UPDATE: 04/27: There will be no no Anointing song this weekend.
A new podium & mic for the Commentator has been set up between the piano & ambo. This makes things tight in that area, so please be careful when going to and from the ambo (or go around the back instead). Also be aware that the additional mic will likely pick up more 'noise' from the choir.
Jake also made a great suggestion about using your right hand when inviting people to sing at the ambo. This way, there's less chance of being obscured by (or bumping into) the paschal candle.
For those interested, some potential dates for working on the sound system will be going out by email (sorry, meant to do this last week). Let me know what works, and we'll get something nailed down.
Finally, First Communion will be celebrated on 05/06 @ 10 AM. Bev & I are covering. If any instrumentalists are available to join us, please let me know.
