Songs & Updates for Saturday, August 10, 2019 [updated]

It sounds like things went well last week, with Maggie and Bev taking point, Ken cantoring, and Ginny, Ben, Steve and Rose making up the choir. Thanks to all who were able to be there! I enjoyed singing in a Creation-themed concert that was in support of Out of the Cold (audio HERE if you're curious :-).

Our music for August (HERE) has been approved. The cantor schedule is also ready to go (HERE). Note that the Baptism previously on the board for this week has been rescheduled as a stand-alone ceremony, so the music has been tweaked accordingly.

In attending 9 AM Mass over the weekend, Father had several fun (but unfamiliar) pieces programmed. This reminded me that post-summer would be a great time to start expanding our repertoire again (especially since we've been doing a lot of familiar music over the summer to keep things simple). I'm open to ideas if you have songs you'd like to try.

We've been asked about playing for Feast of the Assumption Mass on Wednesday, 08/14, at 7 PM. Practice would likely be 6:00 or 6:30 PM that night, depending on our numbers. The tentative program can be found HERE. Please let me know your availability and we can go from there.

A reminder that we have an after-Mass dinner on the board for 08/31. I realize this is a holiday weekend, so if that doesn't work, we can cancel/reschedule.

Jim, Joe and Ginny are out this week; Lisa and Ken are tentatively out as well.

Looking ahead, Bev is tied up on 08/24 -- we'll need to sort out whether this will be a Guitar Mass, or if piano coverage is needed. Stay tuned.

UPDATE: 08/07: I'm sorry to be the bearer of sad news, but Dee Treaster passed away earlier this morning. Details about arrangements went out via email. If you're able to sing/play for the funeral Mass Saturday morning, it would be greatly appreciated. Will pass along further information on the music, etc. as I receive it.
