Songs & Updates for Saturday, August 11, 2018 [updated]

Thanks for a great double-Baptism last week! Despite everything that was going on, the program came together quite nicely. Father really seemed to like Come to the River, so don't be surprised if we do this again soon. Also, special thanks to Frances for helping us out!

I'm experimenting once again with where I stand to direct Mass. Both of my usual spots (behind the piano and in front of the singers) have line-of-site issues. Due to the way the space is laid out, there's really no ideal location, so you may see me moving around more to make sure cues aren't missed. If you have any thoughts on how we can better approach this, I'm open to ideas.

Our Psalm this week is the GC arrangement of Taste and See. We rarely use this version, so please look it over if unfamiliar.

For Where Charity and Love Prevail, keep in mind that we normally do this in a very minimalistic fashion. Ideally, one new voice or instrument part can be added per verse, building up the song as we go. If you have a harmony in mind, we could use three or four to fill out the piece.

English-only sheet music for Pan de Vida went out last weekend. I'd love to start incorporating more of the written voice parts if possible. Also, watch the rhythm at the end of verse two :-)

We haven't done Let the River Flow in a while. The entire song (intro, refrain and verse) is basically done twice, with one final refrain and extro tacked on the end. We'll need a few folks to sing the echo during the refrain; also, if the mood is good, instrumentalists could keep playing for a bit at the end.

Finally, Mass for the Feast of the Assumption will be celebrated next Tuesday, 08/14, at 7 PM. If you're available to help out, Barb's group is covering.
