This Saturday is the 6th Sunday of Easter.
Huge thanks to everyone who was able to come out last Saturday! Several of our instrumentalists had to call off, so Tom ended up playing lead, with Joe on percussion. It was a bit of a 'hybrid' Mass, with some songs done with accompaniment, and others a capella. Given the circumstances, everything turned out exceptionally well.
I would say I Am the Bread of Life was definitely our strongest piece of the night (check it out here). It took a minute to come together, but once it did, we were really rockin' out :-)
I'm hoping to pick the music for June this week. Over the next couple of months, the goal is to keep things simple and stick with well-known tunes, especially with folks in and out for summer activities.
We've only done We Are God's Work of Art once or twice before. Please look it over if unfamiliar.
For I Danced in the Morning, we definitely want to keep this light and bouncy (and perhaps a bit staccato). It's a fast-paced song, so keeping the tempo in check and everyone together can be tricky. We normally run into issues with a phrase or two during the third verse (such as "the holy people said it was a shame"). You may want to spend a few minutes making sure you're good with the rhythms and text.
Jim is out this week. A reminder that I'm tied up next week, 05/27.
