32nd Sunday in Ordinary Time

Nicely done last week! Since All Saints' rarely falls on a weekend, we don't often have a chance to do saint-themed music as a group. It was great to be nearly fully-staffed too! Here's the audio.

Our November music and cantor schedule is ready! A few quick notes:
  • We have three more weeks of Ordinary Time, wrapping with Christ the King on Nov. 21st.
  • We're still taking point on Thanksgiving Eve (Nov. 25th -- rehearsal @ 5:15 PM & Mass @ 6 PM). If you don't have plans, Bev & I would love to pull together a small group for this! It's always better with more than just a cantor & accompanist :-). Let me know if you can help! I'll invite the Sunday musicians as well.
  • Advent and Liturgical Year B kicks off on Nov. 28th. We'll switch to Mass of Joy & Peace that weekend (including a different Gospel Acclamation). Note that while there's no Gloria, we typically have a Penitential Rite and a Candle-Lighting piece each week. The former will be on the cantor schedule. I'll update if anything changes!

Some of you caught this last week, but we had a parishioner share a concern that the piano was too loud. They also felt that it shouldn't be mic'd. In discussing, we don't think there's really an issue here. It probably had more to do with proximity than anything else! Plus, the mic is definitely needed for recording & live-streaming purposes. It might not be a bad idea to re-check our balance, though, just to be safe. It's possible something needs to be adjusted again!

A quick reminder that our Fall Potluck is this Saturday after Mass. There's still time to sign up if you haven't already! As usual, we'll use the Kitchenette as our staging area and eat in the Warehouse. If you have anything to prep, please come a bit early so that we don't lose rehearsal time!

Finally, a few quick Christmas updates:
  • Planning for the 4 PM Children's Mass is underway! Long story short, in the past, I've worked with Amy & Joanne to conduct the Children's Choir. This time, there's a youth member doing it instead as a service project. I'm not sure what other help they'll need, but I'll let you know!
  • As it stands, we're slated to sing for the Faith Formation Pageant on December 19th from ~1-3 PM. I'll pass along details once Amy works those out. If you're available, we'll need at least accompaniment and a few singers to split parts.
  • Finally, I'm leaning toward us taking on Christmas Day this year (pending discussion with the choir leads, of course!). I know that doesn't work for everyone, but it's probably our best option for now! If you're planning to come for Christmas Eve instead, I'll likely be working with Joanne on some things. You're welcome to join us!

I think that's all for now. Have a great week, and see you then!

(All Mass Parts, except the Gospel Acclamation, are from Mass of Creation, including the Gloria, Holy, Eucharistic Acclamation 'B' (When We Eat This Bread), Doxology & Lamb of God)

Out: Ben, Karen

Entrance:
SS #134 (GC3 #582) – Rain Down (vs 1-2) (Cortez)

**Since this is a bit long, let's plan for only two verses. Also, if interested, there are additional parts available in the folder.**

(Glory to God)

Responsorial Ps (Lisa):
SS #067 (GC3 #057) – Ps 63 – My Soul is Thirsting (Angrisano)

**On this one, we'll sing the "my soul is thirsting" text, not "as morning breaks". It would be great to include the harmony on the refrain! Also, don't forget that we normally skip the interlude between verses 2 & 3. Everything else will be as-written.**

Acclamation (Jake):
SS #021 (Mass of a Joyful Heart) (vs 1) (Canedo)

Preparation:
GC3 #865 – Soon and Very Soon (Crouch)

**There's a good chance we'll make it through all four verses, and possibly need to repeat some! Keep in mind that verses 1 & 2 are sung back-to-back, while we go to the Bridge after 3 & 4. But if we do repeat verses, we may go to the Bridge after 1 or 2 as well. I don't normally program this for Offertory, so we'll play it by ear. Parts would be great too!**

(Mass Parts)

Communion:
SS #122 – In This Place (Thompson)

Closing:
SS #202 – Shine, Jesus, Shine (vs 1-2) (Kendrick)

**Since this is long, let's plan for two verses. Don't forget that taking the verses slightly slower helps with the wordiness! At the end, we'll repeat the refrain a cappella.**
