12th Sunday in Ordinary Time
Thanks to everyone who came out last week! It was fun doing some less-common songs like We Are God's People (which several folks commented they really enjoyed) and newer ones like God Sends Us Forth. Here's the audio.
Also, thanks to Maureen & Ally for joining us for the Prayer Service last Thursday! It was a lovely event, with an ad hoc group of 5:00 & 10:30 musicians. The livestream can be found here.
If you're a newer member and are on social media, you may have received an invite for our Facebook group. Don't feel obligated, but if another communication channel is helpful, you're more than welcome to join! Right now, there's a mix of 16 current & former members in that group.
We have a date for our next potluck: August 22nd! If you haven't already, please RSVP and let Bev know what you plan to bring. This will be a 'regular' potluck -- no birthday party like last time :-).
Good Shepherd's CDA Court held a ceremony last Saturday after Mass to install new Officers. Special congrats to Maureen for her new role as Vice-Regent!
Finally, I was looped in on a request from the KofC State Secretary. They're looking for people to lead music for a special Mass on Campus next month. Details are a bit sparse, but it's Saturday, June 11th @ 5 PM. Obviously, that's a conflict for us (especially with Fr. Jozef & Dcn. Jack away that week), but I did offer to help coordinate. Let me know if that might be of interest to you! We think other churches were asked too, so definitely no pressure! I'll email everyone once we have details.
I think that's it. See you Saturday!
(All Mass Parts, except the Gospel Acclamation, are from Mass of Creation, including the Gloria, Holy, Eucharistic Acclamation 'B' (When We Eat This Bread), Doxology & Lamb of God)
Out: Ginny
Entrance:
GC3 #606 - Glory and Praise to Our God (Schutte)
Materials (audio & sheet music)
**This one's a tad long for Gathering, but let's tentatively plan for all four verses. The harmonies on the refrain would be great! And don't forget that verse four has a completely different melody!**
(Glory to God)
**Since we had a number of folks out last week, we'll take a few minutes to run Mass Parts again (mostly to make sure voice & instrument parts are in good shape).**
Responsorial Ps (Jake):
SS #072 - Ps 91 - Be With Me (Hurd)
Materials (audio & sheet music)
**This Psalm doesn't quite follow the usual format. The Cantor will always sing the upper 'Cantor' line, while the Choir & Congregation sing the lower line (think cantor/response format). Also, this tune is very rhythmic -- let's make sure the rhythms and cutoffs are together!**
Acclamation (Lisa):
SS #021 (Mass of a Joyful Heart) (vs 1) Angrisano)
Preparation:
GC3 #746 - All That is Hidden (Farrell)
Materials (audio & sheet music)
**Depending on tempo, we'll probably get through three verses. Including the splits on the refrain would be nice! Just in keep in mind that alto, tenor & bass all start a beat earlier than melody.**
(Mass Parts)
Communion:
SS #195 (GC3 #691) - On Eagle’s Wings (Joncas)
Materials (audio & sheet music)
**Could we start this with an instrumental and repeat verses as needed? Don't forget that verses 1 & 3 (mostly) share the same melody and are paired together in the music; verses 2 & 4 both have unique melodies and are written out separately. The very last time, we'll go to the Coda.**
Closing:
GC3 #689 - Though the Mountains May Fall (Schutte)
Materials (audio & sheet music)
**Let's aim for at least 2-3 verses (but ideally, all four :-). If we could include the descant on the refrain & verse, that would be lovely too!**
