Thanks for a very strong Mass last week! The harmonies sounded great, and I liked how the instrumental sections came together during Communion :-). Here's the audio.
I also appreciate everyone who stuck around for the Potluck! We ended up with (I believe) 13 people, including Fr. Jozef and several family members (welcome Jill & Nathan!). Our next Potluck will probably be Spring timeframe.
Welcome to the final weekend of Ordinary Time!
If interested, here's the Music Ministry report that was submitted to the Prayer & Worship Chair for last week's Pastoral Council meeting. Thanks Barb P. for compiling!
A reminder that next Wednesday, February 18th, is Ash Wednesday. Masses will be celebrated at 9 AM & 7 PM. Barb P. & Bev have the morning liturgy; Joanne has evening. Music is posted to the website.
Speaking of Lent, could we please meet at 3:30 PM next Saturday, February 21st? That will give us extra time to review Mass of Remembrance and other special music for the season:
- Mass of Remembrance:
- Penitential Rite (not in GC)
- Holy, Holy, Holy (GC3 #384)
- Save Us, Savior (GC3 #385)
- Doxology/Amen (GC3 #386)
- Lamb of God (GC3 #390)
- SS #006 - Praise & Honor (Mass of Glory):
- Verses - '1st ABC', '2nd ABC', '3rd A', '4th A', '5th A'
- Other music (TBD)
We didn't get to chat about this last week, but I'm drafting selections for March, Good Friday & Easter Vigil. March and Good Friday are mostly done; Vigil is still a work-in-progress. Most of the Good Friday music is the same as last year, just slightly rearranged. Given the slew of material we have to work through for Vigil, I'm trying not to make any big changes :-).
At it stands, we'll start looking at Holy Week music during regular rehearsals, beginning this week; for the bigger pieces, we'll pick some Saturdays to meet early (or look at weekday evenings). Stay tuned!
If I don't see you, have a wonderful Valentine's Day weekend!
(All Mass Parts, except the Gospel Acclamation, are from Mass of Joy & Peace, including the Gloria, Holy, Eucharistic Acclamation 'B' (When We Eat This Bread), Doxology & Lamb of God)
Out: Karen, Frank, Jake
Entrance:
SS #073 - Come, Worship the Lord (vs 1 & 3) (Talbot)
Materials (audio & sheet music)
**If anyone's interested, there's separate music in the folder with additional parts. Just keep in mind that the verses are in a different order :-).**
(Glory to God)
Responsorial Ps (Cris):
GC3 #1107 - Ps 119 - Blessed Are They (Guimont) [NEW]
Materials (audio & sheet music)
**This is our second and last Guimont Psalm for February. The GC books don't include all of the music, so I'd suggest bringing a copy. I'll also have a few copies available Saturday.**
Acclamation (Ginny):
SS #021 (Mass of a Joyful Heart) (vs 1) (Angrisano)
Preparation:
SS #122 - In This Place (Thomson)
Materials (audio & sheet music)
**Since this will be a bit long, let's plan for 2 (or possibly 3) verses. Including the two lower harmonies on the refrain would be nice!**
(Mass Parts)
Communion:
GC3 #945 - I Am the Bread of Life (Toolan)
Materials (audio & sheet music)
**Could we start this with an instrumental, before adding in voices? The tenor & alto parts on the refrain would be great too!**
Closing:
GC3 #689 - Though the Mountains May Fall (Schutte)
Materials (audio & sheet music)
**Ideally, I'd like to sing all four verses, but we may stop after 2-3. Including the descant on the refrain & verse would be lovely!**
