Thanks for a great Mass last week! It was probably our first time being almost fully staffed in a while. The three-part splits were lovely, especially on Mass Parts and Eat This Bread! I really appreciate the birthday wishes too :-). Here's the audio.
We made it through the Summer! Our September music & cantor schedule is ready. A few quick notes:
- The Season of Creation kicked off yesterday, September 1st. As usual, we've been asked to include Creation-themed music throughout the season (marked in purple).
- We'll also test a different Gospel Acclamation this month. If it doesn't work, we can always switch back to Alleluia! Give the Glory.
- You may see a few less-familiar songs on the board. Please try to look at these ahead of time! Now that Summer is coming to a close, I'm trying to branch into some different material:
- SS #021 - Alleluia (09/06)
- GC3 #600 - Sing Praise to God (09/06)
- SS #189 (GC3 #602) - Lord, I Lift Your Name on High (09/13)
- GC3 #810 - Let Justice Flow Like a River (09/20)
- GC3 #811 - Abundant Life (09/20)
- GC3 #557 - Send Down the Fire (09/27)
- There's one special Feast this month: the Exaltation of the Holy Cross (09/13). The Feast usually falls on a weekday, but not this year! The music will be somewhat Lent or Good Friday-themed.
The Pastoral Council has been on Summer break for the past couple of months. Regular meetings resume tomorrow (Wednesday). If interested, here's the Music Ministry report that Barb P. compiled for the Prayer & Worship Committee.
We also received the Faith Formation schedule for 2025-26. This will be super helpful for planning ahead on special events! If anything isn't already on the Music Ministry calendar, I'll get it added.
Finally, don't forget that our late-Summer potluck is this Saturday after Mass! If you have anything to set up/prep, please take care of it before 4:00. That way, we don't lose rehearsal time :-). We can stage everything in the Kitchenette and eat in the Warehouse.
I think that's it. See you Saturday!
(All Mass Parts, except the Gospel Acclamation, are from Mass of Creation, including the Gloria, Holy, Eucharistic Acclamation 'C' (Save Us, Savior), Doxology & Lamb of God)
Out: Karen
Entrance:
GC3 #576 - Canticle of the Sun (vs 1-3) (Haugen)
Materials (**links removed**))
**This will be split for Gathering & Closing. Please be careful of the eighth & sixteenth-note rhythms -- it's easy for these to get out-of-sync! If we could include the parts, that would be great!**
(Glory to God)
Responsorial Ps (Ginny):
SS #056 - Ps 19 - Your Words Are Spirit and Life (Farrell)
Materials (**links removed**))
**If interested, there's separate sheet music with additional voice parts in the folder.**
Acclamation (Lisa):
SS #021 - Alleluia (vs 1) [NEW]
Materials (**links removed**))
**We started looking at this last week. It's is an oldie that some of you may remember from 15+ years ago. We'll use verse 1; adding the harmony on the refrain would be lovely!**
Preparation:
GC3 #600 - Sing Praise to God (Haugen)
Materials (**links removed**))
**This is a tune we've only sung once before. Please take a look if it's unfamiliar (the syncopation can be a bit tricky!). If it works well, this could be a fun addition to our repertoire :-).**
(Mass Parts)
Communion:
SS #157 - Bread for the World (Farrell)
Materials (**links removed**))
Closing:
GC3 #576 - Canticle of the Sun (vs 4-6) (Haugen)
