Songs & Updates for Saturday, September 20, 2025 [updated]

Season of Creation:
"Peace with Creation"
25th Sunday in Ordinary Time

Thanks to everyone who came out last week! It's wonderful having enough musicians to nearly fill two rows now! The three-part harmonies sounded lovely, and Lord, I Lift Your Name on High came together pretty well for a first run. Here's the audio.

Since Frank, Joe & Karen are out this week, please be ready for a piano Mass! Let's try to diversify voice parts, etc. as much as possible (we'll spend some extra time on this). Time-permitting, we'll also look at a less-familiar piece for next Saturday, Send Down the Fire (GC3 #557)

Since not everyone was able to be at Mass last week, could we make September 27th our 'Photo Day' for the new Directory? If everyone could stick around briefly after Mass (maybe 5-10 minutes), that should be enough time to stage a group photo. We could also do it before or during rehearsal if that's better. Please mark your calendars!

UPDATE: 09/18: An email went out about a slight tweak to the group photo plan. Let me know your thoughts, please, and we'll go from there!

Music plans for October & November have been drafted! I'm getting a jump-start on the rest of Ordinary Time so that we can start focusing on Advent/Christmas (only a few months away :-). Once a few more things are finalized, I'll get those plans posted.

Speaking of Christmas, let me know if you have any thoughts or suggestions on music (preludes, meditations, etc.). We'll have to see how the Mass schedule plays out, but I'm hoping to avoid the issues from last year! Ideally, I'd like to start prepping in early/mid-October -- that way, we have some time to play with before Advent kicks off at the end of November.

That's all for now. Be well, and see you Saturday!

(All Mass Parts, except the Gospel Acclamation, are from Mass of Creation, including the Gloria, Holy, Eucharistic Acclamation 'C' (Save Us, Savior), Doxology & Lamb of God)

Out: Joe, Frank, Karen, Ginny

Entrance:
GC3 #810 - Let Justice Flow Like a River (vs 1-2) (Haugen)
Materials (**links removed**))

**We don't sing this too often -- please take a look if it's unfamiliar! We'll split the verses between Gathering & Closing. In the past, I've cantored the verses; this time, let's sing them as group instead (if everyone's good with that). Note that most of the verses have different melodies!**

(Glory to God)

Responsorial Ps (Lisa):
SS #060 - Ps 25 - To You, O God, I Lift Up My Soul (Hurd)
Materials (**links removed**))

Acclamation (Ben):
SS #021 - Alleluia (vs 1) (Canedo)

Preparation:
GC3 #811 - Abundant Life (Duck)
Materials (**links removed**))

**Here's another one to review -- we've only done it a couple of times before. It's melody only; we'll likely get through all three verses.**

(Mass Parts)

Communion:
SS #063 - The Cry of the Poor (Foley)
Materials (**links removed**))

**This is written as a psalm, but we're going to use it as a 'regular' song instead. Would someone like to get the singing started while everyone else goes up to receive? We'll repeat verses as needed.**

Closing:
GC3 #810 - Let Justice Flow Like a River (vs 3-5)
