Season of Creation:
"Peace with Creation"
27th Sunday in Ordinary Time
Thanks for another strong Mass last week! There were some comments from folks on how our harmonies keep getting better, so nicely done! I'll try to program Send Down the Fire and Voice of Christ again soon, though, so that we can clean those up a bit. Here's the audio.
I also appreciate everyone coming early for our Directory photo session! We had way too much fun staging those shots :-). The original & edited versions were sent to Joanie yesterday for approval.
Last week, I cleaned up the wiring for Karen's boom mic. With everything that's happening in/around the guitar stand, there's plenty to trip over! Since this mic is only pulled out when needed, I tried adding some cable ties and temporary cable covers to keep everything protected.
Communion logistics are still on my radar! I have a few ideas, but still need to chat with Father on what might work best. In the meantime, I'm happy to stay back and cover when needed.
Joanne reported that the new Killoren books have arrived! Once they've been stamped with 'Property of Good Shepherd', they'll be distributed in the Sanctuary. An accompaniment book is still forthcoming. Since we now have the option, Killoren music may start showing up on future music plans :-).
Finally, I'm hoping to begin Advent/Christmas prep in October. Sorting out how we're handling Christmas Mass coverage is one of my priorities at this point (especially after last year's issues). We'll probably start with some a capella pieces, just to keep our options open. Stay tuned for a tentative rehearsal schedule. And if you're not here for Christmas, please let me know!
That's all for now. Have a great week!
(All Mass Parts, except the Gospel Acclamation, are from Mass of Creation, including the Gloria, Holy, Eucharistic Acclamation 'C' (Save Us, Savior), Doxology & Lamb of God)
Out: Ben (tentative), Maureen, Lisa
Entrance:
SS #073 - Come, Worship the Lord (vs 1 & 3) (Talbot)
Materials (audio & sheet music)
**If interested, there are separate voice parts in the folder. Just keep in mind that verses 2 & 3 are reversed from what's in SS! Also, please make sure you're comfortable with rhythms on the verses.**
(Glory to God)
Responsorial Ps (Lisa Cris):
SS #074 - Ps 95 - If Today (Thomson)
Materials (audio & sheet music)
Acclamation (Frank):
SS #021 - Alleluia (vs 1) (Angrisano)
Preparation:
GC3 #752 - Jesus, Your Spirit in Us (Taize)
Materials (audio & sheet music)
**This song has an Ostinato Refrain, meaning it'll be sung continuously underneath the verses. But we'll still sing the refrain alone between each verse.
Would anyone like to cantor the verses? I don't mind doing it again, but you all have first dibs :-). Harmonies would be lovely too!**
(Mass Parts)
Communion:
GC3 #945 - I Am the Bread of Life (Toolan)
Materials (audio & sheet music)
**Could we get this started with an instrumental, before adding in the singing? We can always repeat verses as needed. Harmonies would be great!**
Closing:
GC3 #577 - Sing Out, Earth and Skies! (Haugen)
Materials (audio & sheet music)
**We don't sing this too often, so please take a look! The verses are written in cantor/response format -- we could look at having cantors on these, or splitting the choir. Any preferences?
For the harmonies on the refrain, the upper (tenor/descant) line is largely an echo, while the lower (alto) is an actual harmony.
We may or may not sing all of the verses, depending on how quickly Father processes out.**
