Thanks for a great small-group Mass last week! Other than some minor sync issues, everything came together really well. The harmonies sounded wonderful, and it was fun being at the mics with you all again :-). Here's the audio.
The Music Ministry leads are still discussing the new Spirit & Song. I'm also in touch with the OCP rep on a few questions that came up. In the meantime, if you have thoughts on the new book (and/or additions to the spreadsheet), let me know. I'd love more input before we make any final decisions!
Joanne's been working on a collection of Dcn. Bob Killoren's music. Once ready, we'll have books for the Choir & congregation that can be used whenever we'd like. A blurb about the project will run in the Bulletin. If interested, there will be a way to contribute toward printing costs. No pressure, though!
Frank brought up a good point last week about verses on on Alleluia! Give the Glory. We've mainly been using the 'Gospel Verses', but the 'Gathering Verses' are fine to use too. Just putting that out there!
If anyone else would like to get their feet wet with cantoring, we can always use more folks for the Acclamation and Communion (among other things). You can always 'graduate' to Psalms later if that's something of interest. Again, no pressure -- just offering!
Finally, a reminder that Masses for Assumption are next Thursday, Augusts 14th, @ 7 PM and Friday, August 15th @ 9 AM. If you'd like to join Bev & I for the Vigil Mass, that would be great! An email with the details went out to the entire Ministry yesterday. Music is also up on the website.
Enjoy the nicer weather, and see you Saturday!
(All Mass Parts, except the Gospel Acclamation, are from Mass of Creation, including the Gloria, Holy, Eucharistic Acclamation 'C' (Save Us, Savior), Doxology & Lamb of God)
Out: Karen, Lisa, Ben
Entrance:
SS #134 (GC3 #582) - Rain Down (Cortez)
Materials (**links removed**))
**Note that the practice tracks in the folder are for the four-part arrangement, not the simplified version in the book. You're more than welcome to play with this, but don't feel obligated!**
(Glory to God)
Responsorial Ps (Cris & Ginny):
GC3 #044 - Ps 33 - Let Your Mercy Be on Us (Ref III) (Haugen)
Materials (**links removed**))
**I wasn't able to find practice tracks for Refrain III (the verses are covered, though). If anyone would like to help split out the parts (refrain & verses), that would be lovely.**
Acclamation (Ben TBD):
SS #005 (GC3 #844) - Alleluia! Give the Glory (vs 3 or 4) (Canedo)
Preparation:
GC3 #749 - Where Your Treasure Is (vs 1-3) (Haugen)
Materials (**links removed**))
**Verse four is a nice fit for the readings, but has a completely different melody. We likely won't have time for it, but it might not be a bad idea to look this over just in case!**
(Mass Parts)
Communion:
SS #195 (GC3 #691) - On Eagle’s Wings (Joncas)
Materials (**links removed**))
**We can either start this with a brief instrumental, or have someone stay back to sing for a bit. Keep in mind that verses 1 & 3 share a melody, while 2 & 4 both have different melodies (that's why they're written out-of-order). There's also a good chance that we'll need to repeat some verses.**
Closing:
GC3 #734 - Bring Forth the Kingdom (Haugen)
Materials (**links removed**))
**Would anyone like to cantor verse(s) on this? If not, we can sing them together.**
