21st Sunday in Ordinary Time
Thanks for a great small-group Mass last week! The harmonies were lovely, and it was fun singing with you all at the mics! There were several nice comments from folks on the music :-). Here's the audio.
We also had a wedding vows renewal for a couple celebrating their 50th (!) anniversary. Father Jozef celebrated two Baptisms as well, one before Saturday Mass and another at 10:30 Mass. Busy weekend!
I appreciate everyone who came out for Assumption Masses! Bev & I covered Thursday, and I'm told several folks joined Bev & Barb P. Friday. That should be our last special liturgy until All Saints & All Souls is celebrated in early November.
Just as a heads up, my tentative August travel plans are (thankfully!) not happening, so no need to worry about any coverage. You're stuck with me all month :-).
Beyond what we chatted about last Saturday, no big updates on replacing SS. Ultimately, we'll need to make the switch sooner or later. A few ideas were floated for dealing with missing music, but I'd imagine we won't make any final decisions until after the Killoren books are printed. Stay tuned!
Barb H. had the bulbs in the guitar stand clip-on lamps replaced with regular incandescents. These don't need time to brighten/warm up, so they should work much better now!
Finally, with Labor Day right around the corner (where did Summer go?!), it's time to start thinking about plans for Fall. Besides sorting out Advent/Christmas, I'd love to spend more time working on parts for individual pieces (especially three/four-way splits). Bringing in some new members during the October Time & Talent would be awesome as well. Let me know if you have other ideas!
Enjoy the cooler weather, and see you Saturday!
(All Mass Parts, except the Gospel Acclamation, are from Mass of Creation, including the Gloria, Holy, Eucharistic Acclamation 'C' (Save Us, Savior), Doxology & Lamb of God)
Out: Karen, Jake
Entrance:
SS #107 - Lead Me, Lord (Becker)
Materials (audio & sheet music)
**We may only sing two verses, depending on the timing.**
(Glory to God)
Responsorial Ps (Jake Cris):
Old GC #112 - Ps 117 - Go Out to All the World
Materials (audio & sheet music)
**We last did this for Easter Sunday -- please take a look if unfamiliar! There's also a nice descant on the refrain if anyone's interested.**
Acclamation (Lisa):
SS #005 (GC3 #844) - Alleluia! Give the Glory (vs 1, 2, 3 or 4) (Canedo)
Preparation:
GC3 #685 (SS #160) - How Can I Keep from Singing? (Lowry)
Materials (audio & sheet music)
**Let's plan for all five verses, but cut it short if needed. There won't be an interlude between the verses, just a brief pause.**
(Mass Parts)
Communion:
SS #153 - I Am the Bread of Life (Tablot)
Materials (audio & sheet music)
**Since this tune is a bit shorter, let's start with an instrumental refrain/verse, before adding in voices. Harmonies on the refrain would be great! And let's make sure the rhythm on the refrain is correct too :-). As usual, we'll end with an a capella refrain.**
Closing:
GC3 #761 - God Has Chosen Me (Farrell)
Materials (audio & sheet music)
**We'll sing all three verses, with a brief interlude after each. Parts would be lovely as well!**
