Thanks to everyone who came out last week, especially Victoria for covering piano! Everything came together fairly well for a small group! Special thanks to Jake for taking on that tricky Psalm, and Ginny for getting our Communion song started. Here's the audio.
We touched on this a couple of weeks ago, but I'm working on a comparison spreadsheet of the old (1999) and new (2013) Spirit & Song. The idea is to see whether replacing our old books is a viable option (especially in terms of content). I'll try to share the spreadsheet soon so that you all can take a look. The publisher is also sending us a sample copy to review. Stay tuned!
Our August music & cantor schedule should be ready in the next week. As always, please let me know of any weekends you're out. That'll really help with Summer planning!
Just a reminder that our next Potluck is a little over a month away (Sept. 6th; backup date Sept. 13th). Don't forget to RSVP & sign up for food if you haven't already :-).
Speaking of Fall, we may look at switching up our Gospel Acclamation in September. We've been doing Alleluia! Give the Glory for most of two years, so it's probably time for a change! The Alleluia from Steve Angrisano's Mass of a Joyful Heart could be a good option.
Finally, if possible, I'd like to kick off preliminary Advent & Christmas planning in early September. Hopefully, that'll help avoid the problems that came up last year! If you have any music suggestions for the season, I'm always open to ideas :-).
That's all for now. Have a great week!
(All Mass Parts, except the Gospel Acclamation, are from Mass of Creation, including the Gloria, Holy, Eucharistic Acclamation 'C' (Save Us, Savior), Doxology & Lamb of God)
Out: Karen, Jake, Frank (tentative), Maureen
Entrance:
GC3 #839 - As We Gather at Your Table (Daw)
Materials (**links removed**))
**This is melody-only. We'll sing all three verses, with a slight pause after each (no interlude).**
(Glory to God)
Responsorial Ps (Cris):
SS #088 - Ps 138 - Lord, Your Love is Everlasting (Marcor) [NEW]
Materials (**links removed**))
**This is a new piece; please take a look before Saturday! I was originally planning to introduce it back in February...but the weather had others plans. Note that verse two is in Spanish -- I attempted an English translation, but if that doesn't work, we'll modify the arrangement to skip over that verse.**
Acclamation (Lisa):
SS #005 (GC3 #844) - Alleluia! Give the Glory (vs 3 or 4) (Canedo)
Preparation:
SS #208 (GC3 #653) - There is a Longing (Quigley)
Materials (**links removed**))
**At an upbeat tempo, getting through at least three verses shouldn't be a problem. Note the fermatas at the end of the refrain & verses -- let's treat these as a full four beats (rather than two, as written). Including the harmony on the refrain would be great too!**
(Mass Parts)
Communion:
GC3 #941 - Eat This Bread (Berthier)
Materials (**links removed**))
**This is a repeat from a few weeks ago. If anyone would be interested in cantoring verses, let me know! Otherwise, I'm happy to do that again. Including all four parts would be lovely!**
Closing:
SS #121 - In the Day of the Lord (vs 1-3) (Ridge)
Materials (**links removed**))
