Songs & Updates for Saturday, July 12, 2025 [updated]

15th Sunday in Ordinary Time

Thanks for a great Mass last week! You guys were in rare form, and it was a fun evening! People definitely picked up on the energy :-). Needing to split into two rows was a good problem to have. And I loved how you all dressed in red, white & blue without us talking about it! It's hard picking favorites, but Eat This Bread sounded pretty awesome for a first run! Here's the audio.

The music leads sat down with Fr. Jozef yesterday to discuss a proposed budget. This would support current and future musician, equipment & material needs. With one or two small tweaks, everything met with Fr. Jozef's approval. It'll now go to the Finance Council for their blessing.

We also discussed a few other music-related things:
  • I'll be investigating whether switching to the latest edition of Spirit & Song is viable. Our current books are 26 (!) years old, have some outdated music (mainly text on Mass Parts), and are getting pretty worn. We're the primary users, so I'll see how the content compares, and go from there.
  • Joanne & Adam H. are still working on assembling a booklet of Dcn. Bob's music. Once that's ready, we'll be have copies printed for both the congregation & Choirs. Then we can use Dcn. Bob's music whenever we want :-).
  • Many people really enjoyed the Sequence that we did for Body & Blood a few weeks ago. We're looking at whether this can be used for other occasions, such as Holy Thursday.
Looking ahead, Fr. Jozef decided to dispense with the green booklets and extra music (sung responses, Sprinkling, etc.) for Baptisms. He prefers simpler programs where everyone is observing the liturgy, rather than following a booklet. We already did this 'new' program last month, but just a heads up!

Finally, Monday, July 14th marks the Parish's 36th birthday. Happy Birthday us! We normally have the Parish Picnic around this time, but the Pastoral Council decided to try for Fall instead. Stay tuned!

I think that's it. Stay cool, and have a great week!

(All Mass Parts, except the Gospel Acclamation, are from Mass of Creation, including the Gloria, Holy, Eucharistic Acclamation 'C' (Save Us, Savior), Doxology & Lamb of God)

Out: Karen, Joe, Ben (tentative)

Entrance:
GC3 #606 - Glory and Praise to Our God (Schutte)
Materials (**links removed**))

**Since this moves along at a pretty fast clip, let's plan to sing all four verses. Including the harmonies would be great! Also keep in mind that verse four has a completely different melody.**

Glory to God:
Mass of Creation (Haugen)

Responsorial Ps (Ginny):
SS #056 - Ps 19 - Your Words Are Spirit and Life (Farrell)
Materials (**links removed**))

**If interested, there are separate voice parts available in the folder (I'll try to bring some copies).**

Acclamation (Jake):
SS #005 (GC3 #844) - Alleluia! Give the Glory (vs 3 or 4) (Canedo)

Preparation:
GC3 #751 - The Servant Song (Gillard)
Materials (**links removed**))

**This is another one that would be great to include parts on :-). At an upbeat tempo, singing all six verses should be doable (verse one repeats at the end). I'd also love to sing verse five a capella if possible! All other verses will be with accompaniment.**

Holy, Holy, Holy:
Mass of Creation (Haugen)
Materials (**links removed**))

Eucharistic Acc:
Mass of Creation ('Save Us, Savior') (Haugen)
Materials (**links removed**))

**Bev raised a good point about the Choirs not always singing the rhythm correctly at the 6/4 bar. What's with all of the time signature changes, Marty?! We didn't quite have this right, so let's hit it again during rehearsal.

As a side note, I'll try to conduct Mass Parts in the correct patterns (especially where they jump back and forth between multiple signatures). Hopefully that'll help!**

Doxology/Amen:
Mass of Creation (Haugen)
Materials (**links removed**))

Lamb of God:
Mass of Creation (Haugen)
Materials (**links removed**))

Communion:
SS #122 - In This Place (Thomson)
Materials (**links removed**))

**Could we have someone start the singing, please? That way, we have a better chance of getting through all of the verses :-). The harmonies on the refrain would be great too!**

Closing:
SS #147 - With One Voice (Manalo)
Materials (**links removed**))

**Unless Father processes out early, we'll plan to sing all four verses. Don't forget that clapping is added during the final refrain!**
