Pentecost Sunday

Thanks for a great Mass last week! It was fun pulling out a mix of staple and less-common pieces! And nice job Ms. Ginny on getting the Communion song started :-). There were many positive comments from the KofC guys afterward (some of whom don't normally come to this Mass). Here's the audio.
We wrap up the Easter season this week with Pentecost -- a reminder to wear RED! There's quite a bit to cover (and we're down some folks), so please be ready to start right at 4:00.
As discussed via text, our Spring Potluck on June 14th is canceled. Too many conflicts, unfortunately! Bev put out a new poll for the next few months, and we'll go from there. As it stands, Sept. 6th & 13th are tied for the best date. Stay tuned!
Speaking of texts, we ended up creating a new group chat so that Ben could be added (sorry, it wouldn't let me update the original). Please use this new group moving forward (we'll 'retire' the old one).
If interested, here's the Music Ministry report that was submitted to the Prayer & Worship Committee for this week's Pastoral Council meeting. Thanks as always to Barb P. for compiling! This may be our last report until September, as the PC often breaks for the Summer.
Finally, a reminder to please keep us in-the-loop on Summer absences. That really helps with planning! Karen will be out until mid/late-August; I've heard from a number of you about specific dates as well.
Enjoy the nice weather, and have a great week!
(All Mass Parts, except the Gospel Acclamation, are from Mass of Remembrance, including the Gloria, Holy, Eucharistic Acclamation 'A' (We Proclaim Your Death), Doxology & Lamb of God)
Out: Lisa (tentative), Karen, Barry
Entrance:
SS #116 - Holy Spirit (vs 1-3) (Canedo)
Materials (**links removed**))
**We'll sing the refrain once between verses (no repeat). If you'd be interested in cantoring a verse, let me know! This could be one person for all three, or three different people. Everyone not singing the verses will just keep repeating the refrain (like this). As always, we'll end with an a capella refrain.**
(Glory to God)
Responsorial Ps (Lisa TBD):
GC3 #076 - Ps 104 - Lord, Send Out Your Spirit (Lisicky)
Materials (**links removed**))
**Lisa doesn't think she'll make Mass -- would anyone like to cantor? If not, I can do it. Please check out this recording for how the three-part canon (round) on the refrain will work!**
Sequence (Cris):
GC3 #1084 - Pentecost Sequence (Traditional)
Materials (**links removed**))
**The Sequence will be unison with piano. Father would like everyone to try singing it, so we'll put this on the hymn board (perhaps sharing a line with the Acclamation). Please be prepared to join me! There are five melodies split across ten verses (which are written in pairs). The Sequence will immediately be followed by the Gospel Acclamation.**
Acclamation (Jake):
SS #005 (GC3 #844) - Alleluia! Give the Glory (vs 8) (Canedo)
Preparation:
GC3 #752 - Jesus, Your Spirit in Us (Taize)
Materials (**links removed**))
**The refrain will be sung twice between verses. A cantor will sing each verse, while everyone else repeats the refrain underneath them softly (like this). Would anyone like to take a shot at the verses? I can do them, but you all have first dibs :-).**
(Mass Parts)
Communion:
GC3 #555 - Spirit Blowing through Creation (Haugen)
Materials (**links removed**))
**For this one, the refrain is only sung after verses two & four (ie verses 1-2 and 3-4 are sung back-to-back). We'll begin with a brief instrumental, before having someone start the singing.**
Closing:
SS #202 - Shine, Jesus, Shine (Kendrick)
Materials (**links removed**))
**Let's follow our usual arrangement, including the a capella refrain at the end. Don't forget that the wordy verses will be taken at a slightly slower tempo than the refrain!**
