Songs & Updates for Saturday, May 10, 2025

4th Sunday of Easter / Good Shepherd Sunday

Thanks for another strong Mass last week! The three-part splits on songs like Two Fishermen & God Has Chosen Me sounded great! Here's the audio

I also appreciate the help with cleanup -- if you're curious about the concert Lisa & I were off to after Mass, the Sunday performance was livestreamed (not sure how long this will be available). We performed during the first half for Beethoven's Mass in C Major.

Huge thanks as well to those who were able to help with the Parish Mission! The livestream from Monday can be found here. Despite power outages Tuesday & Wednesday, the Mission was still held all three nights. Special thanks to Joe for bringing in equipment to give us working lights/sound! We had to 'get creative', but pulled it off :-).

If interested, here's the Music Ministry report that was submitted to the Prayer & Worship Committee for this week's Pastoral Council meeting. As a side note, we have a new Chair for Prayer & Worship, but I don't think much (if anything) will change with these reports.

Time-permitting, I'd like to start looking at a new piece for May 24th, Alleluia No. 1 (GC3 #524). There's a lovely descant on the refrain and parts on the verses that would be great to include! Practice tracks are in the folder. This is an older tune, so perhaps some of you are already familiar with it :-).

Looking ahead, Fr. Jozef, Dcn. Jack and others will be away in Greece the week of May 12th. For Masses that weekend (May 17/18), we'll have a visiting missionary priest. Because of this, there won't be a Sprinkling Rite (the Gloria will be sung as normal instead). We'll likely have to play some other logistics by ear too; stay tuned.

I think that's it. Be well, and if I don't see you, have a happy Mother's Day weekend!

(All Mass Parts, except the Gospel Acclamation, are from Mass of Remembrance, including the Gloria, Holy, Eucharistic Acclamation 'A' (We Proclaim Your Death), Doxology & Lamb of God)

Out: Karen, Ben

Entrance:
SS #073 - Come, Worship the Lord (Talbot)
Materials (**links removed**))

**This is written as a Psalm, but we'll use it for Gathering instead (at a more upbeat tempo). Please make sure you're comfortable with melody (especially verses!). We'll probably sing verses 1 & 2 only.**

Sprinkling/Gloria:

**We'll use the combined Gloria/Sprinkling above (for real this time!). For the parts marked 'All Sing', we'll sing the second half of the refrain only (like this). At the end of the Rite, we'll sing entire Gloria (while Father sprinkles the congregation).**

Responsorial Ps (Lisa):
SS #082 - Ps 118 - This is the Day (Fisher)
Materials (**links removed**))

Acclamation (Jake):
SS #005 (GC3 #844) - Alleluia! Give the Glory (vs 6) (Canedo)

Preparation:
GC3 #723 - Shepherd of My Heart (O'Brian)
Materials (**links removed**))

**Like Gathering, we'll take this at a fairly upbeat tempo (but without rushing!). Could we also include the tenor & alto parts, please? Ideally, I'd like to get through all three verses, but two is more likely.**

(Mass Parts)

Communion:
GC3 #535 - Resucitó (Arguello)
Materials (**links removed**))

**Let's start with an instrumental while everyone else goes up to receive; then we can add in voices. This is a tune that's fun to build up a bit :-). Since the verses are shorter, we'll probably need to repeat verses or add another instrumental for time.**

Closing:
GC3 #835 - They’ll Know We Are Christians (Scholtes)
Materials (**links removed**))
