3rd Sunday of Lent

Thanks for another solid Lent liturgy! Things were pretty well-balanced and the harmonies sounded nice. I also appreciate your coming early to work on Good Friday music! Here's the audio.
Paul addressed another sound system issue last week. Both guitar stand mics were way too hot and feeding back; it turned out that the gain (hard knobs) was turned up for both, so he readjusted them. It looks like Paul did a bit of wiring cleanup too, with cable clips added to the mic stands. Thanks, Paul!
Since our existing copies are getting pretty worn, the Office purchased 15 new Mass of Remembrance booklets. Barb H. asked that we treat these gently (like library books) to prevent excessive wear-and-tear (the same goes for the rest of our books :-). Some of the better, original copies will be in the back rows or in the cabinet (please borrow these for rehearsing at home).
A reminder that we'll continue meeting at 3:30 PM to work on music for the season. Last week, we looked at Who is That Man? and O Sacred Head Surrounded (both for Good Friday). We'll touch on these again, but also go through some other music on the program.
Regarding the rest of Holy Week, Barb, Joanne & I are looking at scheduling a meeting with Fr. Jozef to go through logistics. Everyone's invited to play/sing for Holy Thursday and/or Easter Vigil if you're able! The issue of Easter Sunday coverage is still being sorted out too (thanks for your patience!), so stay tuned.
We also discussed Feast of the Ascension, which will be celebrated on 05/28 @ 7 PM (Vigil) and 05/29 @ 9 AM. Bev & I have the evening Mass, while Barb & Bev have morning. Please join us if you're able! Music will be available closer to that date.
Finally, our Spring Potluck is now scheduled for 06/14 after Mass. Thanks to all who responded and to Bev for coordinating! A food signup will be available soon.
That's all for now. See you Saturday!
(All Mass Parts, except the Lenten Gospel Acclamation, are from Mass of Remembrance, including Holy, Eucharistic Acclamation 'A' (We Proclaim Your Death), Doxology & Lamb of God)
Out: Maureen, Ben
Entrance:
GC3 #482 - The Cross of Jesus (O'Brian)
Materials (**links removed**))
**A moderately fast (but not rushed!) tempo would be great for this! We may only do 2-3 verses for time. Including the harmony would be lovely!**
Penitential Rite (Frank):
Mass of Remembrance (Haugen)
Mass of Remembrance (Haugen)
Responsorial Ps (Cris):
SS #077 - Ps 103 - The Lord is Kind and Merciful (Modlin)
Materials (**links removed**))
Acclamation (Ben TBD):
SS #006 - Praise and Honor (‘3rd C’ verse) (Canedo)
Preparation:
SS #152 (GC3 #777) - Here I Am, Lord (Schutte)
Materials (**links removed**))
**We may only get through two verses. Besides the harmonies on the refrain in SS, there's also a descant for the verses in GC if anyone's interested.**
(Mass Parts)
Communion:
GC3 #489 - Merciful God (Lent Communion Ref) (Alonso)
Materials (**links removed**))
**We'll use the 'Lent Communion' refrain. For the verses, keep in mind that soprano/melody will be on the upper line, while everyone else will sing the echo/harmony on the lower lines. The harmony is written as an echo for the first phrase only; after that, everyone will be singing together.**
Closing:
GC3 #475 - Tree of Life (vs 1-3 & Lent 3rd Sun. verse) (Haugen)
Materials (**links removed**))
**We'll sing the first three 'regular' verses, followed by the Sunday-specific 3rd Sunday verse ("Living water of salvation..."). Also, if anyone's interested, the refrain from 'Adoramus Te Christe' (GC3 #476) can be sung as a descant on the final verse.**
