7th Sunday in Ordinary Time
Nice work last week! We were a small group, but everything seemed to come together quite well. Doing some slower, more melodic pieces was a nice change in pace from the 'heavier' music of the past few Saturdays (check out We Are the Light of the World and The Lord is My Light).

From Sunday's planning meeting, here's what the music for Lent looks like so far. Stay tuned for the rest of the music for March and the cantor schedule.

  • Mass Setting: Mass of Remembrance
  • Psalms based on the Year C Readings for each week
Please take some time to look at the new Gathering song. Note that we'll be using the second Refrain ("Lenten Gathering") and alternating which set of verses we're singing each week (1-3 & 4-6). I've love to take advantage of the written parts if possible. This piece will be introduced on Ash Wednesday.

For Mass of Remembrance, keep in mind that we'll be singing the Penitential Rite and Lenten Gospel Acclamation throughout the season; there will be no Gloria or regular Gospel Acclamation until Easter. If you're able, voice parts would be great on this as well.

On a similar note, for those planning to be around for Easter, I'll have music for I Will Rise (just came in today), Open the Eyes of My Heart and Who is That Man? available on Saturday. Please pick up copies so we can get a jump-start on these pieces.

Finally, could we meet after Mass on 03/02 to work on Lent music, review Mass Parts and touch on preludes? We should also try to nail down some type of rehearsal plan for the rest of the season. Please let me know if that doesn't work and we'll look at other dates.
