6th Sunday in Ordinary Time
Thanks for a fun liturgy last week! There were lots of moving pieces between the Baptism and RCIA, but everything seemed to flow well (the Baptism family passed along their compliments). I also appreciate folks sticking around for a bite to eat and a bit of planning discussion.Special thanks to Barry for getting that second row choir mic back up and running! All of the mics should now be in working order. On another equipment-related note, one of the music stands is broken, so we're down to three in the front row at the moment.
Below are the highlights from our planning discussion. Obviously, Lent/Easter is the next big season to organize, so please mark your calendars and let me know of your availability. I should have more details on the theme/music next week. Again, open to ideas if there's anything else you'd like to discuss as far as Easter and/or general logistics/planning.
- Important dates for Lent/Easter:
- Lent Planning Meeting - February 17th - will attend and report back
- Lent begins March 6th (Ash Wednesday)
- Holy Week begins April 13th (Palm Sunday)
- Good Friday - April 19th (we typically cover the 2 PM Service)
- Easter Sunday - April 21st (we typically cover the 9 AM Parish Hall Mass)
- Lent/Easter Preludes:
- Good Friday - Who is That Man? - Besig
- Easter Sunday - I Will Rise - Giglio
- Easter Sunday - Open the Eyes of My Heart - Baloche
- Other ideas?
- Master Contacts List - We talked about putting together a contacts list which includes (among other things) phone numbers for all group members. The idea is to give us another means of reaching each other in the case of absences, weather, etc.. Stay tuned for a separate note on this.
- Choir Rehearsals - We've been focusing a lot lately on voice parts and more complex music. Since we usually don't have time during regular practice to work on these, would folks be interested in dedicated rehearsals perhaps 2-3 times/month? I think this would especially be helpful for the upcoming Lent/Easter season, but also for regular Mass music as well.
- New Musicians - Finally, I know this comes up every year, but we can always use new singers and instrumentalists to give us more flexibility. Please keep an eye out for people who may be interested in joining us.
