Season of Creation
27th Sunday in Ordinary Time
Don't forget to take a look at We Arise, our new Closing song for the next six weeks. Several of us already know the voice parts from last Sunday, but it would be great to get more folks onboard with these. I may even break out my saxophone since it's a nice fit for this style of music :-)
UPDATE: 10/03: Joe is out this week; Jim is tentatively out (sick).
UPDATE: 10/03: The music for Thursday can be found HERE.

Despite not having piano or guitar accompaniment last week, we ended up pulling off a pretty solid Mass with only a few minor issues. Special thanks to Maggie and Joe for helping with intros, rhythm/tempo and harmony. We Come Today was probably one of our strongest pieces. I appreciate everyone's willingness to be a bit flexible and make this 'semi-a capella' Mass work! Definitely looking forward to having everyone back this Saturday, though :-)
Thanks as well to those who were able to participate in Sunday's Arise Liturgy. The turnout was small, but the program seemed to come together well. Ken, Maggie, Lisa, Bev and I joined Barb, Anna, Jeff (guitar) and Adam (saxophone) from the 11 AM Choir to handle the music.
The music for October has been sent to the Office for approval. Will let you know of any changes. Stay tuned for the cantor schedule.
Just a reminder that we're covering a special Mass for the Feast of Saint Francis on Thursday, 10/04, at 7 PM. We'll rehearse at 6 PM. This celebration marks the official end of the Season of Creation. I've already spoken with some of you about this, but please let me know if you're available to sing/play. Will send out the music once it's available. Note that the celebrant will be a visiting priest.
An update on the sound system: the Office is moving forward with a proposal to replace both the board and mixer. This is more cost-effective than repairing the existing equipment, and should hopefully eliminate the issues we've been experiencing across all three Masses.

Finally, just a quick note that I'll be out on 10/20 for a choir concert. Let's make sure that all of the bases are covered for that night.
