Songs & Updates for Saturday, June 9, 2018

Thanks for a great Mass last week -- the energy on several songs was wonderful to hear. It was nice to have our guitar section 'whole' again as well :-). The switch to Mass of Creation didn't cause any problems, and we had a chance to touch on this week's new Communion song with the congregation (which Father seemed to like).

Our music for June (HERE) was approved with no changes. The cantor schedule (HERE) is also available, but may need to be tweaked slightly.

Stay tuned for the music for July -- since the selection resources are already available, I'll probably go ahead and get this done early. A contender for our July Communion song is last week's Offertory hymn, Now We Remain.

The focus of our rehearsal on Saturday will likely be the new Communion song, O Taste and See. If you're available, I'd suggest coming at 4 PM so we have extra time to work through this. The refrain is pretty short and simply repeats twice between verses. The verses, on the other hand, are longer and mostly have different melody lines. These could either be done in a large group or as solos (probably large group for now). If everyone could at least be familiar with these melody lines, that would definitely save some time.

This song is in both Gather and Spirit & Song; I opted for the SS version since it's easier to read/follow (the GC version has everything crammed onto two pages). If you're looking to sing harmony, though, GC may be the way to go. Also, unlike the recordings, there's no key change to worry about. Looking forward to giving this a shot!

Finally, it looks like I had the incorrect page numbers listed for a couple of songs (Gathering & Closing). The correct numbers are below. Sorry for any confusion.
