Songs & Updates for Saturday, October 5, 2024

27th Sunday in Ordinary Time

Nicely done last week! We ended the Season of Creation on a high note, with several people sharing how much they enjoyed the music (one person said it was "joyful" :-). Thanks again to Victoria for playing these past two Saturdays! Here's the audio.

Welcome back, Bev -- we've missed you!

Our music and cantor schedule for October is ready to go. Note that Bev is out on Oct. 19th, so we're looking into coverage (probably Virginia or Victoria). The music plan may be tweaked if needed.

If interested, here's the Music Ministry report that was submitted to the Prayer & Worship Committee for tomorrow's Pastoral Council meeting. Thanks to Barb P. for compiling this!

Last week, we touched on preliminary prep for Advent/Christmas. Any objections if we meet at 3:30 PM on Oct. 12th & 26th? I'll send some (tentative) music before then, but that'll give us a head start on the season. Hopefully more details to come on what the season will look like.

Finally, we just confirmed the schedule & coverage for All Saints and All Souls. Because of the way everything falls this year, the schedule is a bit different than usual:

All Saints:
Thursday, Oct. 31st @ 7 PM (Vigil) - Joanne R. (cantor TBD)
Friday, Nov. 1st @ 9 AM - Barb P. & Bev

All Souls:
Saturday, Nov. 2nd @ 9 AM - Cris & Bev
(Saturday Mass will be as-normal for the 30th Sun. in Ordinary Time)

If a few singers (and any instrumentalists!) would like to join Bev & I on Nov. 2nd, we could do quite a bit more with the music! Otherwise, no worries -- I realize it means doing 'double-duty' that day :-). I'll include this liturgy in the music plan for November. Stay tuned.

I think that's it. Stay dry and have a great week!

(All Mass Parts, except the Gospel Acclamation, are from Storrington Mass, including Holy, Eucharistic Acclamation 'B' (When We Eat This Bread), Doxology & Lamb of God)

Out: Luca, Ginny, Frank (tentative)

Entrance:
SS #111 (GC3 #837) - Gather Your People (Hurd)
Materials (**links removed**)

**If anyone would like to take a look, the GC version has a full set of parts. We may only do two verses, depending on the timing.**

(Glory to God)

Responsorial Ps (Cris):
GC3 #086 - Ps 128 - Blest Are Those Who Love You (Ref II) (Haugen)
Materials (**links removed**)

Acclamation (Lisa):
SS #005 (GC3 #844) - Alleluia! Give the Glory (vs 3 or 4) (Canedo)

Preparation:
SS #184 - I Could Sing of Your Love Forever (Smith)
Materials (**links removed**)

**Please make sure you're comfortable with the rhythm and flow for this one! It'll be structured as follows:

-Intro (eight bars)
-Verse
-Refrain
-Bridge
-Interlude (four bars)
-Refrain (repeat as needed)

Including the harmony on the refrain would be nice :-).**

(Mass Parts)

Communion:
GC3 #920 - Pan de Vida [English text] (Hurd)
Materials (**links removed**)

**Please use this version of the sheet music, which has the English verse two written out. The phrasing on verse 2 is a bit awkward, so make sure you know how this goes. Harmonies would be nice!**

Commendation:
Song of Farewell (Schutte) [if needed]

Closing:
GC3 #575 - All You Works of God (vs 1, 4 & 7) (Haugen)
Materials (**links removed**)

**If anyone's interested, the verses are in cantor/response format. We could look at splitting the choir, or doing them all together (like last time).**
