Songs & Updates for Saturday, June 22, 2024

12th Sunday in Ordinary Time
Image Credit: West Palm Beach Church of Christ

Thanks for a great large-group Mass last week! The harmonies sounded wonderful and the balance was excellent. What is Our Service to Be is coming together nicely as well. Here's the audio

Also, a belated Happy Father's Day to our dads! I realized I missed saying this last week. So sorry!

Thanks to Paul, Jake & Joe for their continued work on the sound system! A few more updates:
  • The piano mic has been repositioned. It was picking up interference from the dehumidifier system, so that's why it wasn't coming through the system very well. Paul also fixed the cage/shock mount.
  • The compressors/limiters have also been tweaked. My understanding is this will help us maintain consistent levels at each mic regardless of how loudly or softly each of us sings. We're hoping to carry these settings over to the Sunday presets.
  • The ambo mic was very hot and caused feedback when the choir mics were on. We ended up bringing it (and one or two others) down to match the levels posted in the Sacristy.
  • I haven't had much luck finding a plastic cover to protect the knobs on the mixer. I'm mostly just finding dust covers and the like. I'll keep looking, though!

Our black binder in the choir area (the one that's normally on the guitar stand) has been updated with copies of the new Mass Settings rotation and a revised list of liturgical feasts/holidays for 2024. There's also copies of our June music plans and space for Sunday music plans too (if needed). Let me know if there's any other docs we should add for reference.

We haven't had a chance to do much with Storrington Mass in recent weeks. Let's take some time on Saturday to go through the parts again. If we need more time, we may want to consider meeting early on a Saturday or two in July. We're still planning to re-introduce this setting in mid-August.

If you haven't already, please RSVP for our potluck on 07/06. Bev sent out the signup last week. That way, we can make sure everything's covered :-).

Finally, the rehearsal for Mark H.'s Memorial Mass will be on Sunday, 06/23, following the 10:30 AM liturgy. The Memorial Mass itself will be on Saturday, 06/29 @ 2 PM. See Joanne's note for details.

I think that's it. Stay cool this week!
