Feast of the Epiphany

Thanks to all who came out last week! We had a larger-than-usual crowd due to the holiday weekend, which was nice to see. It was also great to have several of you at Joanne's party! Here's the audio

Happy New Year! This week, we celebrate the final liturgy of the Christmas season and our first liturgy of 2024. Looking forward to another great year of music-making!

Our music & cantor schedule for January is ready to go. Since Lent & Easter is right around the corner (mid-February!), I tried to stick with familiar music this month.

I put together this document outlining 2024 feasts & holidays. I'll be using this for planning purposes, but if it's helpful, you're welcome to save/print a copy too. Let me know if anything's missing!

Going into 2024, I'd love to start kicking off rehearsals with a brief prayer & warm-ups (something we've talked about in the past). If we could all be ready to start right at 4:00, that would really help! More to come on some other goals/ideas for the new year :-).

If you haven't already, don't forget to return your black binders. Also, if you don't want/need any loose copies of Christmas music, feel free to give those to me as well (we can keep them for next time).

Lord, Today is a repeat from Christmas Eve. This time, we'll split it for Gathering & Closing. I'd like to include at least the upper harmony, but feel free to add one of the lower parts too. Also, please be careful of entrances on the verses (there are a few with pickups).

The tune for Epiphany Carol should be familiar, but if not, please take a look. We've only done this a few times before. Ideally, I'd like to keep the tempo up and add a brief interlude between verses. Let's try to get through all of the verses, but we'll see what the timing looks like.

Wood of the Cradle was also on our Christmas program for second Communion, but we ended up not needing it. Please make sure you're comfortable with the melody.

Finally, the weather is calling for snow from Saturday afternoon into Sunday. It's too early to make any definitive calls, so we'll see what things look like closer to the weekend and go from there. Please keep an eye on your email & Facebook for updates.

UPDATE: 01/05: Since the weather is calling for heavy snow from Saturday morning into Sunday, there's a good chance we'll need to cancel choir activities. Stay tuned for an update tomorrow, but if the weather's right, many of us probably won't be able to make it anyway.

UPDATE: 01/06: All, given the weather, I'm canceling Music Ministry activities for this evening, 01/06. Fr. Jozef & Dcn. Jack are fine with this. Of course, if anyone is able to be there and wants to sing/play, feel free! I'll gladly help any way I can from home :-). Stay safe and we'll regroup next week!

I think that's it! Have a great first week of 2024 and (hopefully) see you Saturday!
