Songs & Updates for Saturday, January 27, 2024 [updated]

4th Sunday in Ordinary Time

A huge thanks to Frank & John (from the 10:30 group) for a great guitar Mass last week! Unfortunately, Virginia wasn't able to cover piano due to illness, so Frank & John played on very short notice. I appreciate your flexibility! All things considered, Mass came together really well. Here's the audio.

Our music for February is ready to go (stay tuned for the cantor schedule). There are a couple of new pieces to look at: Praise and Honor (the Lenten Acclamation from Mass of Glory) and Mercy, O God (planned as our Communion song for three Saturdays in Lent). The rest should all be familiar music.

I'm planning to write up some general announcements about needing musicians. In the next week or so, these will probably run in the Bulletin, Facebook, etc.. I'm not expecting a big response, but it's a place to start! From there, we can consider more creative (or perhaps aggressive?) approaches :-).

For Gather Your People, the GC arrangement has some parts available that aren't in SS. If you'd like to take a look, the GC version is linked below. We'll sing the first two verses only.

Our Communion song is Make Us Worthy. Please use the arrangement that's linked below, rather than what's in the book (we should have hard copies in the choir cabinet). Since we're a little light on singers, don't worry about the 'backup choir' parts on the verses (which we'll sing together). We'll also skip the 'ad-lib' ending and go straight to the final ending instead.

A reminder that our first Lent/Easter rehearsal is (tentatively) next Saturday, 02/03, at 3 PM. I'll make sure this (and other rehearsals) are on the Parish calendar. If there are any conflicts, though, bumping to the following week is a possibility. Stay tuned!

Finally, if you haven't already, please let me know your availability for Good Friday (03/29 @ 2 PM) & Easter Sunday (03/31 - time TBD). It would be great to have a solid idea of who's here before getting too deep into planning. Hopefully we can pull in some others before then!

I think that's it. Enjoy the warm(-er) weather, and have a great week!

(All Mass Parts, except the Gospel Acclamation, are from Mass of Joy & Peace, including the Gloria, Holy, Eucharistic Acclamation 'A' (We Proclaim Your Death), Doxology & Lamb of God)
