Feast of Christ the King
Thanks to all who came out last week! We were pretty well-staffed and didn't run into any major issues. It was also great having Luca with us again on flute! Here's the audio.
A reminder that our next Christmas rehearsal is this Saturday @ 3 PM. We'll keep working on preludes and regular Mass music.
Just a heads up that Frank will be out the rest of November and most of December (except Dec. 2nd). Paul is available to help us out, though, on Dec. 9th & 16th. Thanks, Paul!
Our music & cantor schedule for December is ready to go! Let me know if you see any issues. The music should be finalized at this point, but it's possible some things will need tweaked later.
Please welcome back Maggie & Tom! My understanding is they'll be in town this weekend for Thanksgiving and plan to (re-)join us.
Looking at this week's music, the refrain on The King of Glory will be sung softly, with the verses louder (check out the recording). We'll likely do all the verses.
Anthem is a tune we've only done twice before. Please take a look if it's not familiar. Verse 3 is a bit tricky rhythm-wise, but we may not get that far anyway (I'm anticipating two verses). If you feel confident with it, including the descant would be nice (otherwise, don't worry about it!).
Note that the verses on At the Name of Jesus are written out-of-order, but the melodies are mostly identical (just slight rhythm & dynamics changes). We've only done this a few times before, so please make sure you're comfortable with it. We may want to have someone stay behind to start the singing.
Mass for Thanksgiving Eve will be this Wednesday (tomorrow), 11/22 @ 7 PM. If anyone would like to join Bev & I, we'll meet around 6:15 to go through the program.
Looking ahead, coverage for Christmas has (mostly) been confirmed:
Christmas Eve:
Sun., 12/24 @ 4:00 PM - Children's Choir
Sun., 12/24 @ 6:00 PM - 10:30 AM Choir
Sun., 12/24 @ 8:00 PM - 5:00 PM Choir
Christmas Day:
Mon., 12/25 @ 10:00 AM - 8:30 AM Choir
As it stands, Bev, Joe, Lisa, Jake & I are available for the 8 PM Mass. This has me a bit concerned numbers-wise, but I do have messages in to others who might be able to help (we still have time!). Ideally, I'd love to have at least four dedicated vocalists (one for each part), plus piano, percussion, guitar & a melodic instrument. If you know of others who might want to join us, let me know!
Finally, thanks so much for all that you do! I truly appreciate the time & talent that you dedicate to our Ministry (and many others do as well!). It really helps make our Mass experience special. If I don't see you, have a happy, safe, blessed Thanksgiving!
(All Mass Parts, except the Gospel Acclamation, are from Mass of Creation, including the Gloria, Holy, Eucharistic Acclamation 'B' (When We Eat This Bread), Doxology & Lamb of God)
