Songs & Updates for Saturday, October 14, 2023 [updated]

28th Sunday in Ordinary Time

Thanks to all who came out last week! We were a light crew, but still pulled everything off. As always, I appreciate your flexibility! All Are Welcome, Taste and See and I Heard the Voice of Jesus Say were probably our strongest. Also, welcome again to Mario! Here's the audio

Time & Talent may be over, but please do continue recruiting! Unfortunately, we did lose one of our new members from that weekend due to scheduling/availability concerns. Ideally, I'd love to see us expand to three people on each part (especially as we approach Christmas). I'll be reaching out to some folks, but we may also want to look at more creative recruiting strategies (open to ideas!).

Let's welcome Luca to the group on flute! Luca will be joining us on the Psalm, Shepherd Me, O God, and we'll go from there!

If you're not already familiar with our Communion song, Anthem, please take a look before Saturday. The rhythms are a bit tricky (lots of 8th & 16th notes). This is also programmed for 10/28.

For Bring Forth the Kingdom, we can either sing the verses as a group, or have cantors on each verse (either way's fine!). Let me know if you'd be interested in taking a verse.

Time-permitting, let's work on a couple of pieces for next week: the Haugen version of Ps 66: Let All the Earth (GC3 #059) and Bambelela / Never Give Up (GC3 #755) (some of you may be familiar with Bambelela from Good Friday).

A reminder that the Fall Festival is planned for 10/21. If you'd be interested in providing live music (I'm presuming it doesn't need to be Church-related :-), please get in touch with the Parish Office.

Looking ahead, 11/04 is a rare Saturday where Bev, Frank & I are all out. If anyone's willing, we'll need a group leader to coordinate things that night (I can show you what all needs done). At the very least, this could be a cantor Mass with one of the Sunday pianists (will check into this).

UPDATE: 10/10: My apologies -- Frank is not out on 11/04. Calendar glitch on my part.

Finally, if you haven't already, let me know your availability for Christmas Eve. This will really help with music planning. Again, we don't have a Mass schedule yet, but it sounds like we'll follow a similar approach to last year (a 4 PM Children's Mass, followed by one or two 'regular' Masses -- times TBD).

That's all for now. Enjoy the Fall weather, and have a great week!

(All Mass Parts, except the Gospel Acclamation, are from Mass of Creation, including the Gloria, Holy, Eucharistic Acclamation 'B' (When We Eat This Bread), Doxology & Lamb of God)
