Season of Creation:
“Let Justice & Peace Flow”
26th Sunday in Ordinary Time

Thanks for another solid Mass last week! Abundant Life came together pretty well for a first run, and it was fun pulling out Let the River Flow again (after 5 years!?).
Our piano monitor fix was a success; Frank also broke out the Church's electric guitar (which still sounds good) and Ms. Anya is learning how to put numbers up on the hymn board (it looks like I'll be out of a job soon :-). Here's the audio.
Our music & cantor schedule for October is ready to go. Note a couple of new pieces: Anthem (GC3 #778) and Let All the Earth (GC3 #059). We'll look at these ahead of time.
The dates/times for several special liturgies were just confirmed last week. These have been added to the calendar & signups. Joanne, Barb P. & I are still discussing coverage, but we may end up playing for one or more of the evening Masses. Stay tuned!
- All Saints - 10/31 @ 7 PM (Vigil) & 11/01 @ 9 AM
- All Souls - 11/02 @ 7 PM
- Thanksgiving Eve - 11/22 @ 7 PM
- Immaculate Conception - 12/07 @ 7 PM (Vigil) & 12/08 & 9 AM
The Office is also sorting out the Christmas Mass schedule (the 4th Sun. of Advent & Christmas Eve fall on the same weekend). In the meantime, let me know if you have preferences on rehearsal times (below). Advent doesn't start until the beginning of December, so we have two months to prep:
- Saturdays @ 3 PM (followed by regular rehearsal)
- After Mass @ ~6:15 PM
- Sunday afternoons/evenings - after 1 PM
- Weeknights - Tues, Wed, Thurs or Fri @ 6 PM (or later)
Please make sure you're familiar with the refrain on Let Justice Flow like a River. This is our final Season of Creation piece. Let's plan to have cantor(s) on each verse (I don't mind singing these, but you all have first dibs :-). Note that the recording starts with verse 1, rather than the refrain.
Jake & Ken would like to take a look at the GC harmonies for Alleluia! Give the Glory. If anyone else is interested in giving these a shot, I've included the GC arrangement below.
For We Will Serve the Lord, keep in mind that verses 1 & 2 are sung back-to-back (we'll use the 1st Ending, which has a brief interlude). For verses 3 & 4, the refrain is sung each time (no interlude). If there's time, we can look at adding elements from the old t4C arrangement.
Finally, I'll be one of the people manning the Prayer & Worship table for Time & Talent. If anyone else is able to stay & help with recruiting, that would be very much appreciated (we really do need to bring in more musicians!). I may also make a plea for volunteers at the end of Mass.
That's all for now. See you Saturday!
(All Mass Parts, except the Gospel Acclamation, are from Mass of Creation, including the Gloria, Holy, Eucharistic Acclamation 'B' (When We Eat This Bread), Doxology & Lamb of God)
