Songs & Updates for Saturday, September 2, 2023 [updated]

Season of Creation:
“Let Justice & Peace Flow”
22nd Sunday in Ordinary Time

Thanks for another great Mass last week! The Psalm was lovely, and it was fun pulling out old classics like Eye Has Not Seen and Fly Like a Bird again. I really appreciate the early birthday wishes too (you guys are sneaky -- especially Ginny :-). Here's the audio

We're in the process of publicizing the new Music Ministry website. Facebook posts went out last week. The Parish homepage is also being updated, and notes in the Bulletin & Flocknote should be going out too. If you haven't had a chance to check out the site yet, please do!

Our music & cantor schedule for September is ready! We're entering the Season of Creation, so at least one piece fitting the theme ("Let Justice & Peace Flow") will be done each week. I decided against repeating any one song this time (just to help with variety), but there are a couple that are new (programmed late in the month so there's time to prep). Let me know if you see any issues.

We're also switching to Mass of Creation. Let's take some time to review the parts on Saturday. Note that the Eucharistic Acclamation will now be 'When We Eat This Bread' (just to mix things up; Fr. Jozef doesn't normally have a strong preference). We'll continue singing the Gospel Acclamation out of SS.

In Ginny's absence, would anyone be willing/interested in announcing songs? This would be for the Psalm, Offertory, Communion & Closing (Gathering will be covered as part of the opening announcements). If not, no worries; I can take care of this.

We have several pieces this week with nice harmonies -- Canticle of the Sun and Rain Down both have three or four-part splits, while the Psalm has a nice echo. Please check these out if interested!

UPDATE: 08/31: Tom is back in town and will be joining us tomorrow!

UPDATE: 09/01: Due to the change in Mass Settings, the Mass Cards for the congregation need swapped out. If you're able to help with this, I'll be there around 3:15-3:30 tomorrow.

Also, there was a note in last week's Bulletin about a visiting priest speaking this weekend. I believe this is just for Homily (with Fr. Jozef presiding for Mass), but will confirm.

Looking ahead, after a long hiatus, Time & Talent returns the last weekend of September (09/30)! For those unfamiliar, representatives from various ministries (including us) will be available after Masses to (hopefully) recruit new volunteers. In the past, there have been light refreshments & tables/displays in Agape Hall. If you're able to stick around after Mass that Saturday, I'd appreciate it! More to come.

Finally, looking even further ahead, I'm hoping to start some (very) preliminary Christmas planning this month. No details yet, but if you have any ideas on music, availability, etc., let me know!

If I don't see you, have a great Labor Day weekend!
