20th Sunday in Ordinary Time
Nicely done last week! We needed everyone on mics again, so I appreciate your flexibility! All of the two and three-part splits worked quite well. Mountain of God was definitely a highlight, though, and there were several positive comments on the Psalm as well. Here's the audio.
I'm happy to announce that the new Music Ministry website is now live! Please check it out and let me know if you see any issues. Details went out by email. As for our blog, it's not going anywhere. We'll keep handling weekly updates the same way -- the posts will just be available on both sites.
A reminder that Assumption is being celebrated on Tuesday, 08/15, at 9 AM (Bev & Barb P.) and 7 PM (Joanne, Denise & I). Please join in the singing for either liturgy! The programs went out by email.
If you have any water bottles on the work table in the choir area, please try to retrieve them ASAP. These may soon be removed/recycled.
As it stands, this Saturday will be a Guitar Mass (thanks Frank!). Bev did put out a call for pianists, but it doesn't appear that any of the Sunday folks are available. Frank and I are planning to meet slightly early (around 3:45), but we'll still rehearse as usual at 4:00. Let me know if you're not able to be there.
UPDATE: 08/17: Bev had a change in plans and should be here Saturday after all.
For Gather Your People, note that the GC version has a full set of harmonies that aren't in SS. If interested, please take a look! I believe everything else about the arrangements is (mostly) the same.
We'll sing the English text only for Pan de Vida. Please bring a copy of the music below, as it has the lyrics written out with the notes (much easier to read than how it's laid out in the book).
Finally, looking ahead to Fall, I do want to seriously focus on recruiting new musicians. Expanding our numbers would definitely give us more options. If you know of any current, returning or new parishioners who may be interested in joining us, please reach out to them (or let me know). We may snag some people with the upcoming Time & Talent event too, but there's no reason to wait until then.
As always, thanks for everything you do! Stay dry, and have a great week!
