Songs & Updates for Saturday, August 12, 2023 [updated]

Good work last week! We had a pretty light crew (Bev, Maggie, Tom, Joe, Jake & I), so everyone was on mics. The program came together nicely, with Shine, Jesus, Shine clearly being a favorite. The marriage vows renewal was neat to see too and something we haven't done before. Here's the audio

This was also Tom's last regular Mass with us -- thanks again for everything, Tom, and best wishes! I believe Maggie is still with us a bit longer.

We're planning to launch the new Music Ministry website very shortly. I'll share the link once it's been published. I've also updated our group name/logo to reflect the correct Mass time (thanks, Rich!), and tweaked Google Drive permissions for shared files (let me know if you run into any access issues). You may notice some changes to various pages on our blog site too. Stay tuned!

The Psalm has some lovely harmonies on both the refrain and verses -- if anyone would like to join Lisa on parts, let us know! We could potentially split this soprano, alto & tenor.

On a similar note, our Gathering, Offertory, Communion & Closing songs (mostly) all have single-line harmonies/descants. If anyone's interested, it would be nice to include some of these :-).

We haven't sung You Are Near in ages (I have no record of the last time). Please take a look if it's not familiar. Note that this is the revised version, with some language in the refrain that we're no longer allowed to use updated. I believe the rest should be the same.

Sadly, we do have a death announcement this week. Please plan to sing the Commendation Song after Communion. I'll make sure we have a cue note this time.

Looking ahead, Assumption will be celebrated on Tuesday, 08/15, at 9 AM & 7 PM. Please do join in the singing if you're able! Bev is playing at 9 AM (with Barb P. cantoring), and Joanne at 7 PM (cantor TBD). I'll forward the programs separately.

Finally, 08/19 will tentatively be a guitar Mass (thanks, Frank!). If anyone else is planning to be out that weekend, please give me a heads up for planning.

That's it for now. Have a great week!
