Pentecost Sunday

Thanks for a great piano & percussion-based Mass last week! It was nice having a program of fun, familiar music, and Fr. Mike was pleasure to work with! Check out the audio here (**link removed**).
For those involved with sound system cleanup, a reminder that we're meeting this Thursday, 05/25, at 6:00 PM. A list of things to accomplish & supplies went out by email.
The new choir blinds have been installed! If you didn't see these last week, individual blinds have been added to each window panel, so we have a good amount of flexibility if we need to use these.
Our music & cantor schedule for June is ready to go. I modified the planning document to include much of the info normally found on songsheets (you may want to start bringing a copy). I've also tried to scale back our music for the summer, with the exception of one new piece for Trinity Sunday.
Holy Spirit will be split for Entrance & Closing. As a reminder, the verses will be sung by cantors (any volunteers?), with everyone else staying on the ostinato refrain. The final refrain will be a capella.
For Lord, Send Out Your Spirit, let's plan to sing the canon/round on the refrain. We'll need a couple of people on parts 2 & 3 (Lisa will be part 1; don't worry about part 4). Any takers?
Immediately after the 2nd Reading will be the Pentecost Sequence. This is another tradition Fr. Jozef is (re)introducing to the Parish. We'll use Dcn. Bob's Spirit Prayer for this. I put together a quick audio file of what (I believe) this is supposed to sound like (plus an intro/outro that's not in the music).
Alleluia! Give the Glory will be sung after the Pentecost Sequence. We'll use verse 8, which is the dedicated Pentecost verse (mostly the same melody as verse 7).
The verses for Spirit Blowing through Creation will be sung in pairs, with the refrain after each set (ie vs 1 & 2, refrain, verse 3 & 4, refrain). We probably won't need all four, though.
We started looking at Holy Spirit, We’re Calling You last week. Please bring copies and make sure you're familiar with it. I'd also like to follow the composer's suggestion of building up the piece as we go (there's quite a bit of flexibility with how we approach this, so let's have fun with it!).
Can we make one more addition to the program? For those willing to stay, I'd like to sing America the Beautiful as an (informal) postlude. This will be the standard arrangement.
And finally, don't forget to wear red :-).
We have a lot to cover. Please try to be there by 3:45 at the latest, and review the music/logistics ahead of time. Sorry, I realize it's a holiday weekend, but just want to give us some time to play with.
If I don't see you, have a happy, safe, Memorial Day!
